Hits on this blog.
During the 17 years I have run this blog, I have never commented on our audience.
Given the current international events, hits may be of interest.
I have regularly watched the international hits since 2011. During that period, we have been viewed by about 120 countries.
There are occasional periodic spikes which stand out and stink of attacks. By far the largest spikes over the years have been from Russia. Those spikes really have been quiet for quite a while and are not currently showing.
Spikes, of course, could come from search type publicity. The ones which look like attacks differ from such a situation because of their sudden massive hits.
Currently, there have been a disproportionate number of hits from Japan. It really is not so large as to look like an attack. I welcome those folks with pleasure. We had weekly hits of this scale in individual weeks during last December and November. January saw a week with hits five times this size.
I apologize for the relative lack of activity. The reality is that the Charles River is under constant attack from Cambridge and that irresponsible state agency, but nothing individually outstanding. There is great fear for destruction which the Cambridge City Council really funded, but no apparent action visible. I had a number of comments on the report of that bike outrage which I really should pass on.
The countries with apparent attacks are very few. Russia has three times the number of total hits as the number two suspect and six time the number 3 suspect.
Japan, by contrast, is probably benign. Local reasons of interest repeating apparently once a month, perhaps. Total hits from Japan are one tenth that from Russia, but the reality is that Japan is much smaller a country.
