Cambridge to Attack the Environment at the Massive Danehy Park?

1. Danehy Park under apparent attack.
2. Councilor Van Beuzekom’s Position (?).
3. Situation in Context. — The very terrible record of the Cambridge City Council

1. Danehy Park under apparent attack.

Seth Teller is organizing around Cambridge considering destruction of the grass in three playing fields at Danehy Park in the western part of Cambridge. His comments follow. There is a lot of automatically introduced characters in the email. I have attempted to edit out the chaff and return what, I hope, he was trying to say:

[Ed. The initial publication lost a lot of intended formatting. I have overkilled trying to make this readable.]

Subject: [ecfg] Save the grass fields at Danehy

Hi neighbors,

Sorry, I seem to be on an activism streak lately. Today's issue:

Cambridge plans to pave *all three grass playing fields* at Danehy with plastic turf. We might
be able to turn this around if we can kick up a big enough storm to get the city council's attention. Please *sign the petition* http://tinyurl.com/keepthegrass to help.

AND please send this email as widely as you can to everyone you know who might care about grass vs. plastic:

soccer/ultimate/field hockey players, dog walkers, whatever. Forget sports -- know anyone that likes to lie out in the sun on some soft grass rather than plastic? Know anyone that flies kites? Goes outside? Forward this to them. http://tinyurl.com/keepthegrass.

Please help fix this.

Thank you.

2. Councilor Van Beuzekom’s Position (?).

*Sent:* Tuesday, January 29, 2013 7:38 AM
*Subject:* Meeting Scheduled

Good Morning everyone -

A meeting has been scheduled by a committee of the City Council to discuss this further. I hope you will be able to attend so we can all hear what the exact city plans are, what the playing field demands are and what the maintenance on the grass fields has been to date.

February 6th from 4-6pm in City Hall, the Sullivan Chambers on the 2nd floor.

I realize this time is not ideal for working folk so please feel free to submit something in writing prior to the meeting. You can use Council@cambridgema.gov to send your message to all of us or Dlopez@cambridgema.gov to send it to City Clerk as part of the public record.

Thanks for trying to hold a balanced discussion electronically.

3. Situation in Context. — The very terrible record of the Cambridge City Council.

The only thing which is consistent about environmental “planning” in and near the City of Cambridge, MA, USA is that the “planners” are as destructive to the environment as a very large and very controlled Cambridge Machine can fool people into suckering for.

I condemned Governor Patrick for assisting the many outrages and, in the process, condemned a really bad city council, at http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2013/01/patrick-administration-destructiveness.html.

They are so rotten that it is very hard to list everything. Danehy Park is one of the largest formal open space that I am aware of in the City of Cambridge. One outrage I did not mention in the Patrick report is ongoing environmental destruction at Fresh Pond, another very massive area which has been in the process of incremental environmental destruction for several years now. Danehy Park is maybe a block from Fresh Pond at the nearest point.

Danehy Park is perhaps half a mile from the Alewife reservation which Cambridge is aggressively destroying.

Councilor vanBeuzekom appeared in a recent post as an example of the corrupt environment situation. She was making a presentation at one of the typical fake groups bragging about environmental holiness at Fresh Pond. The massive destruction is total waste of trees and animal residents for “flood protection” that project cannot provide, with ample room in nearby properties to provide meaningful flood protection. One meaningful properties has disappeared for use and a second major property is on the verge. The Machine is stalling, telling people to look at a long shot fight on a private developement; how dare anybody stop an eminently stoppable project their friends are doing.

vanBeuzekom was bragging about air quality. She mentioned two key parcels needed for use to prevent the destruction and animal killing, but she did not want to know about reality and her city council’s fight for destruction.

Patrick Administration Destructiveness in Context

1. Letter to the Editor.
2. Women’s Rights.
3. Environmental Destruction.

1. Letter to the Editor.

I have submitted the following letter to the editor of the Cambridge Chronicle:

Editor
Cambridge Chronicle

Actions by the Patrick administration have dramatically communicated contempt for the environment by Governor Patrick.

Workers on the Commuter Rail bridge under the BU Bridge used for parking the last refuge of the Charles River White Geese to the east of the BU Bridge. If we had a responsible state government, they would have parked under Memorial Drive as did the BU Bridge workers.

This last undestroyed area has had severe past damage by the state’s agents destroying ground vegetation and by sporadic irresponsible parking by state workers.

This time it was five weeks parking by about ten privately owned vehicles starting in early December.

The governor’s response to our complaint was noncommital. In other words, “tough”.

Now the environmentally destructive Charles River “Conservancy” has put out the following report:

*****

Just before the end of 2012 Transportation Secretary Davey issued a change order to the Anderson Bridge and asked for a change to the design of the River St. and Western Av. bridges to clear the path for future underpasses.

*****

This group and friends in the Cambridge Machine have been fighting for destruction of the environment under and adjacent to both sides of these three bridges.

Massive destruction is related to these projects. It includes further heartless attacks on Magazine Beach and the Goose Meadow, plus destruction of the parking lot at the end of Magazine Street and devastation of the magnificent 105 tree grove at the Memorial Drive split.

These actions follow years of outrages at Magazine Beach: walling it off from the Charles River, starvation of the Charles River White Geese, dumping of poisons, decrease of size of the playing fields and destruction of the boat docks, plus the extension of destructive bushes to the Goose Meadow.

These actions follow a totally unnecessary mass animal kill as part of the destruction of acres of Alewife for “flood storage” that project cannot provide but which can be provided under nearby properties. The Machine is stalling enough that many of the nearby properties may be no longer available.

Then you have the mass tree destruction on the Cambridge Common and Flagstaff Park using state money.

There is no longer anything ambiguous about Governor Patrick’s environmental destructiveness. The nicest comparison I can give with regard to the Cambridge Government and the Cambridge Machine is that, at least, there is no reason to think that Governor Patrick has contempt for women’s rights.

2. Women’s Rights.

The corruption of the Cambridge city government is only exceeded by its hypocrisy.

These self proclaimed “holier than thou”’s got a very strong come uppance in the case of Malvina Monteiro v. Cambridge.

Judge, jury and appeals court panel condemned the Cambridge City Manager in no uncertain terms because he destroyed the life of department head Malvina Monteiro in retaliation for her filing a civil rights / women’s rights complaint.

The Cambridge City Council was unambiguous power to fire the Cambridge City Manager for malfeasance in office.

The Cambridge City Council has had exactly zero attempts to do so and exactly zero votes to implement the Court decisions by firing him.

3. Environmental Destruction.

The letter is excessively moderate.

The heartless abuse of the Charles River White Geese has been supported by the Patrick administration by its clearly stated indifference to the parking outrage.

My letter was not able to detail the start of an environmental nightmare being increasingly forced on the Charles River White Geese. These 32 year residents of the Charles River have been starved by the bizarre wall of introduced bushes walling off the Magazine Beach playing fields. That bizarre wall is being duplicated in half the tiny area to which they have been heartlessly confined by the planting of such bushes occupying half the area.

The half that has not been under attack by this outrage has just been attacked by the parking of approximately ten privately owned vehicles for five weeks, when a responsible government would have parked those vehicles under the very close Memorial Drive overpass in a parking location used for BU Bridge repairs.

The basic issue is how low can you go that differences are irrelevant.

It is very nice of the Patrick administration not, apparently, joining the corruption of Cambridge in the field of women’s rights, but he really has not had a chance to join that level of corruption. The automatic assumption is that he would never stoop so low. But the outrages listed in my letter to the editor all fall under the “They would never stoop so low” category.

A really, really rotten situation.

Governor Patrick reaffirms contempt for the Charles River Environment

1. Background, nesting area destruction.
2. Falsely named "Conservancy" brags of further planned destruction.

1. Background, nesting area destruction.

We have several time reported on the outrage at the destroyed nesting area of the Charles River White Geese in which the last refuge of the Charles River White Geese was converted into a parking lot for Commuter Rail workers rather than parking under Memorial Drive where BU Bridge workers parked for years.

This outrage continued for five weeks and will resume whenever they are so irresponsible as to resume their contemptuous behavior.

Communication to the Governor received a “neutral” reply.

Translation: Tough, tough, tough.

We still have some photos which we will post.

2. Falsely named "Conservancy" brags of further planned destruction.

The falsely named Charles River “Conservancy” in a bulk email sent at 5:30 pm on January 25, 2012, reported the following:

***********

Just before the end of 2012 Transportation Secretary Davey issued a change order to the Anderson Bridge and asked for a change to the design of the River St. and Western Av. bridges to clear the path for future underpasses.

***********

These destructive people were fighting for destruction of the environment on both sides of these bridges which are the next three bridges west of the BU Bridge.

It is ambiguous exactly the nature of the destruction. Are they destroying under both ends?

Good Guys, Bad Guys, and Evil in Cambridge, MA, USA

1. Cambridge Machine: There is no such a thing as bad guys. There are just differences of opinion.
2. Bad guy.
3. Response (also known as censored #1).
4. Summary.

1. Cambridge Machine: There is no such a thing as bad guys. There are just differences of opinion.

The Cambridge Machine is active again.

Now the Cambridge Machine claims to be defending Cambridge against a massive increase in development allowed in Central and Kendall Squares.

As part of this fight, members of the Cambridge Machine have been doing lovely analyses of morality.

The Cambridge Machine is reading from the script.

The Cambridge Machine is objecting to the use of the word "Bad Guys" with regard to the supposed opposition.

I really do not want to spend a lot of time writing yet another response, so here are a bad guy comment and the response (with correction of one type) I sent which was censored from their listserve.

I am only quoting the introductory paragraph.

If I quoted the rest, I would have to go on and on and on.

2. Bad guy.

It isn't a case of bad people vs good people. (Gosh, we are hearing enough of that now with the Newtown killings.) It is best to think of it as different viewpoints on how expansion should occur and on the research on urban growth. It seems that the goal of these postings is to offer the opportunity to discuss the pros and cons of upzoning and city planning in a rational, fact-based manner.

3. Response (also known as censored #1)

The people who tell me "It is just a matter of difference of opinion" tend to have striking problems in that their "opinions" deviate very far from the norm.

Excellent examples of deviating from the norm include

(1) fighting for achieving inexcusable destruction of acres of virgin woodlands at Alewife along with massive killing of their resident animals, and fighting through stalling to make it much worse and

(2) fighting for

(a) the dumping of poisons on the banks of the Charles River to feed sickly grass introduced in place of environmentally responsible grass,

(b) the continuation and worsening of large scale deliberate animal starvation of three decade resident animals on the Charles River and related and accelerating animal abuse targeted at achieving a goal of killing off all resident animals on the Charles River Basin,

(c) the continuation of the bizarre wall blocking access between the Charles River and the Magazine Beach playing fields

(d) the continuation of the destruction of the boat docks at the Magazine Beach playing fields,

(e) the continuation of smaller playing fields to drain off poisons which should not be there, and

(f) fighting for destruction of the parking lot at the foot of Magazine Street without giving any explanation except that they do not have the money yet (while "neglecting" to mention that the destruction will occur immediately after they get the money).

When you combine such behavior with loud proclamations of "concern" which give the impression that the speakers are on the opposite side from the side they are really on, I have very great difficulty calling these outrages "differences of opinion."

And when you look at the fact that the principal tool being used is stalling to allow, through inaction, the opposite to happen from what they claim to stand for, that definitely looks to me like the bad guys.

4. Summary.

The tactics used strike me as an excellent example of Evil.

This is Cambridge, MA, USA.

Cambridge, MA, proposed environmental destruction on its Common - v. 2. Destruction at Alewife

1. Introduction.
2. Final version of Cambridge Common Letter.
3. Addendum.

1. Introduction.

About a week ago, I posted a proposed letter to the editor of the Cambridge Chronicle concerning an article they printed in their January 10 edition about Cambridge’s proposal to destroy 22 to 100 excellent trees in the Cambridge Common and the adjacent Flagstaff Park.

I rewrote the letter with some major stylistic improvements while keeping the content consistent. It was published in the hard copy edition on January 17. It was printed on the oped page, the middle of three editorial pages. Final version is below.

I got in as much as much as was feasible about the outrages at Alewife and on the Charles. The big problem with the Charles is that the outrages are so massive and so major that mentioning the problem is very difficult to do in a few words.

The woman who has led the fight for Alewife destruction for 15 years submitted her own con game letter, as usual telling people concerned about Alewife to look at the other guy off in the periphery. As usual, her pitch is to ignore Cambridge / Department of Conservation and Recreation and the reality of probable total destruction. Her latest con game letter was printed on line but not in the hard copy.

2. Final version of Cambridge Common Letter.

Editor
Cambridge Chronicle

You report on Cambridge’s proposal for environmental destruction on Cambridge Common and in the adjacent Flagstaff Park.

You quote a city representative as saying that “some of the [20] trees [being destroyed] are diseased.”

A different reality exists in Cambridge’s Environmental Impact Statement.

The EIS in the second paragraph on the fourth page says: “To create this path and visual connection twenty-two trees will be removed.”

The short explanation of the “visual connection” being created is that the planners are disturbed that trees are blocking the monument view. So they destroy those trees.

NO MENTION OF DISEASED TREES appears in the ENF.

Responsible people consider trees to be the view. Contrary to this normal mentality is the attitude among Cambridge planners that trees block views. Such a position in the ENF is outrageous. Adding “diseased” allegations apparently out of whole cloth is even worse.

Apparently after funding the destruction , the city council passed a motion submitted by Councilor Kelley which stated “The Cambridge Common renovation project plans to remove close to one hundred significantly sized trees.” Perhaps the looksee you report corrected a misunderstanding. However, the Cambridge City Manager routinely keeps secret environmental destruction.

The highway proposal through Flagstaff Park goes through an area with very significant trees. That highway project is mentioned in the ENF.

This mention of the highway with no more could be the City Manager’s usual mention of destruction without mentioning the destruction. The City Manager claims it is the duty of responsible people to cross examine his proposals and to find what he has kept secret.

If Kelley were correct, destruction of those Flagstaff Park trees could help explain the difference between the 22 HEALTHY TREES which are admittedly being destroyed for blocking the view and the nearly 100 healthy trees Kelley mentioned being destroyed.

In any case, contrary to the diseased nonsense and at absolute minimum, 22 healthy trees are being destroyed because they block the view.

Cambridge’s bizarre priorities fit its destruction of acres of Alewife’s virgin woodlands and killing hundreds of animals for a “flood protection” project which will not protect against floods. Alewife flood protection can and should be done on nearby properties. Environmental destruction is unnecessary.

Cambridge’s bizarre priorities fit multiple outrages on the Charles River which are in the process of being made worse.

Business as usual in Cambridge, MA, USA.

3. Addendum.

This update as originally published erroneously omitted the final three paragraphs printed in the Cambridge Chronicle. On January 20, 2013, I have updated the report to make it correct.

For the record as well, the letter since its hard copy publishing on Thursday, January 17, has been added to the on line record as well on, I think, January 19.

1. Lovely Words From Governor Patrick.

Last night, January 16, 2013, Governor Patrick gave his State of the State Address.

He made a lot of noise about infrastructure and money to create it.

Reality is a very destructive use of money destroying infrastructure on one hand and laziness abetting a very destructive state agency in its destructiveness on the other.

His lovely words did mirror the lovely words aimed toward him at the Senator Warren ceremonial swearing in.

The basis of the following report was received while I was working on the current report:

THE DESTROYED NESTING AREA AND THE CHARLES RIVER WHITE GEESE ARE BY THE BOSTON GLOBE SHOWN AS A MODEL OF WHY CAMBRIDGE IS HOLIER THAN THOU.

6. Summary.

I had hoped for decency and honor from Governor Patrick. This was because he may have vetoed Obama moneys to destroy hundreds of excellent trees on Memorial Drive between Magazine Beach and the third bridge to the east, the Longfellow Bridge. In not at all surprising behavior, the application was based on key lies from the Department of Conservation and Recreation. They filed papers with Cambridge saying that all the trees were healthy. The public lies talked diseased trees.

The Boston Globe printed a report on it, quoting the lies from the DCR without question in the form of: How dare you disagree with these [flat out liars].

Patrick has been made aware of the latest laziness induced outrage at the Destroyed Nesting Area. His response was neutral, fitting the rottenness in Cambridge and from the DCR.

Thank you to Phil Barber for pointing out the following from the Boston Globe in December 2012:

The lies which Cambridge puts out about itself are multiplied by unknowing reporters repeating those lies.

It is silly to call the repeat of the lies by the Cambridge Machine “unknowing.”

Cambridge and the DCR are doing everything they can, in particular, to kill off the Charles River White Geese.

My current series of reports provides multiple photos about the latest outrage in this exact location.

It is the goal of Cambridge and the Department of Conservation and Recreation to kill off all resident animals on the Charles River.

Cambridge and the DCR have indulged in October - November 2011 in a massive destruction of acres of Alewife including a pogrom of hundreds of resident animals.

I have done a series of reports on the latest outrage. I will follow shortly with a detailed update with new photos and links to old photos

Days 407 and 408. Nesting Area of the Charles River White Geese looks bad

We conducted visibilities on Monday and Tuesday, January 14 and 15, days 407 and 408, at the Destroyed Nesting Area of the Charles River White Geese on the Charles River at the intersection of the BU Bridge and its on ramp to Memorial Drive in Cambridge, MA, USA.

It looks bad.

Both days we were there in early rush hour, after, apparently, the railroad’s workers left.

On Monday, the gaggle was huddled against the BU Bridge at the bottom of the slope and near the Charles River. They moved closer to the tree they have lived their life under since the Department of Conservation and Recreation and Cambridge started deliberately starving them by walling off Magazine Beach. They did not go all the way. They huddled against the Charles River in an area that was densely vegetated until the falsely named Charles River “Conservancy” started destroying the environment for the DCR.

On Tuesday, they were in the second location when I came and moved up the artificially created undeveloped area by the BU Bridge when a couple of good people came, perhaps with needed food.

The ground which has been their main habitat since the start of starvation looks like a solid floor. It is hard to believe that the destruction which existed before could be made worse, but it has been made significantly worse, apparently unhabitable.

It is possible that these irresponsible people have finished their job and left to leave additional destruction to someone else.

The reality is that the BU Bridge workers, except for the plans from the DCR, functioned responsibly. The task was transferred to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation after most of the task was dictated by a really irresponsible agency. MassDOT did not implement the DCR’s goals of killing off all animals any more than was dictated by the DCR and Cambridge.

This latest phase from Commuter Rail with DCR blessing is inexcusable, downright rotten, behavior. This latest phase is consistent with the rotten situation in the City of Cambridge and with regard to Cambridge’s multiple irresponsible cohorts.

Days 405 and 406 at the Destroyed Nesting Area of the Charles River White Geese: Corruption

1. Days 405 and 406 at the Destroyed Nesting Area of the Charles River White Geese.
2. Types of destruction.
3. Corruption.

1. Days 405 and 406 at the Destroyed Nesting Area of the Charles River White Geese.

On Saturday, January 12 and Sunday, January 13, I conducted visibilities at the Destroyed Nesting Area of the Charles River White Geese.

They were huddled almost in their favorite part of the world, under the big tree kitty corner from the entrance illegally built by Boston University at BU Bridge and the On Ramp to Memorial Drive.

This Saturday, there were no workers destroying their home. They rested between the formerly natural area which has irresponsibly been turned into a parking lot, to their north, and the Charles River to the south.

2. Types of destruction.

This outrage has clarified that there are two types of environmental destruction going on.

There is the deliberate type achieved by the falsely named Charles River “Conservancy.” Since they started destroy the environment for the Department of Conservation and Recreation, almost all ground vegetation has been destroyed between the BU Bridge and the BU Boathouse a block (2/10 mile?) to the east. In the nesting area, this has meant the deforestation of the ground under all trees, including the killing of vegetation used for nesting.

But the irresponsibility of the CRC has been accelerated by vehicles driving over larger, more organized areas including areas which have been coming back from destruction. Clearly, looking at these irresponsible workers, such rotten behavior has been a very major factor in destruction as well.

3. Corruption.

I had a pleasant conversation with a gentleman taking photographs.

He had very clear and very negative opinions about how Cambridge, MA, is run. He used the word “corruption.” I agreed with him but corrected him.

The City of Cambridge, I said, is too corrupt for the stereotypical municipal definition of corruption to apply. The situation is too corrupt to make payoffs have any sense.

The fake groups are white collar corruption. These subtly but very really controlled groups lie that they are independent and control well meaning people while stabbing them in the back.

The achieved destruction and massive animal killing at Alewife with the fake groups working to make the situation that much worse is one excellent example.

Locally the problem is the continued destruction on the Charles with its own fake group who lie about “concern” but

a. do not want to know about reality,

b. do not want to know about the ongoing and increasing heartless animal abuse and irresponsible environmental destruction

c. while fighting to make things worse

strikes very close to home as well.

If you are lying about which side you are on and fooling well meaning people to destroy the causes for which they stand, you are corrupt. In Cambridge, MA, USA, corruption is the norm.

Day 404, plus Environmental Destruction on the Cambridge Common

1. Day 404 at the Destroyed Nesting Area of the Charles River White Geese.
2. Cambridge Chronicle notices Cambridge Common.

1. Day 404 at the Destroyed Nesting Area of the Charles River White Geese.

On January 10, I conducted day 404 of our visibilities at the Destroyed Nesting Area of the Charles River White Geese. I had good response including one gentleman who has been a regular.

The area turned into an irresponsible parking lot includes a very significant portion which is now a quagmire. We have had a freeze followed by a thaw.

The gaggle of the Charles River White Geese rested on the ground on the safe side of their favorite spot, now parking. When the workers left, the gaggle moved to the artificial emptiness next to the BU Bridge where they rested. Was the original spot a plea to decency from people with no ethics?

2. Cambridge Chronicle notices Cambridge Common.

The January 10, 2013 edition of the Cambridge Chronicle modestly front paged a report on the proposed destruction on the Cambridge Common.

I have submitted the following letter. I enclosed copies of the Environmental Notification Form and of the Kelley motion mentioned in the letter. Two typos corrected.

************

RE: Cambridge Common Environmental Destruction: Cambridge words and reality.

You have reported on Cambridge’s latest foray into environmental destruction.

This time, it is on Cambridge Common and Flagstaff Park.

The report quotes a city representative as saying that 20 trees will be destroyed, “some of the [20] trees are diseased.”

Interestingly, as is very common with Cambridge environmental destruction, a different reality occurs when you look at the official documents.

The Environmental Impact Statement in the second paragraph on the fourth page says:

“To create this path and visual connection twenty-two trees will be removed.” The short version of “visual connection” is that the planners are disturbed that trees are blocking the view. NO MENTION OF DISEASED TREES AMONG THE 22 appears in the ENF. Contrary to this normal mentality among city planners, responsible people consider trees to be the view. Such a position by Cambridge “planners” is nothing less than outrageous, but is highly normal among these people.

The city council passed a motion on this matter submitted by Councilor Kelley on November 5, which stated: “The Cambridge Common renovation project plans to remove close to one hundred significantly sized trees.” Perhaps the looksee corrected a misunderstanding by the Cambridge City Council. However, the Cambridge City Manager has routinely kept secret as much environmental destruction as he can get away with.

The highway proposal through Flagstaff Park goes through an area with very significant trees. That highway project is mentioned in the ENF. This mention of the highway with no more could be the City Manager’s usual mention of destruction without mentioning the destruction. The City Manager thinks it is the duty of responsible people to cross examine the City Manager and to find what he has kept secret.

If Councilor Kelley was correct, those magnificent trees could explain the difference between the 22 HEALTHY TREES which are being destroyed for blocking the view and the 100 he mentioned.

In any case, contrary to the diseased nonsense and at absolute minimum, 22 healthy trees are being destroyed because they block the view.

This bizarre level of priorities fits Cambridge’s destruction of acres of Alewife and killing hundreds of animals for a “flood protection” project which will not protect against floods but which meaningfully could be done on nearby properties without any environmental destruction.

This bizarre level of priorities fits multiple outrages on the Charles River which are in the process of being made much worse.

Business as usual in the City of Cambridge.

Cambridge (MA) Chronicle assists mass animal killing, encourages more

I sent the following letter to the Cambridge Chronicle on December 22, 2012.

In general, they have been extremely good on publishing my letters.

To put it succinctly, the Chronicle devoted the first page of its second section to a photo report on The Machine's celebration of the environment at Alewife. The Machine has destroyed acres of Alewife along with mass animal killings of permanent residents. The Machine, through the usual distractions and telling people to look at everything except what counts is fighting for perhaps total destruction of Alewife.

The below letter addressed the Chronicle’s guilt and has not been published. It is possible that the editor may also have had problems with my accurate description of the corruption which is the norm in Cambridge government and the Cambridge Machine.

**********

RE: Chronicle Puffery assists Alewife Destruction

I see the Chronicle has devoted yet another first page of the second section to the falsely named Friends of Alewife lying about which side they are on.

The last time I remember this Cambridge Machine front being in the Chronicle, it was bragging in a letter about its friends destroying acres of the irreplaceable Alewife reservation and killing off its animals.

Never before that destruction did this falsely named group publicly mention its fight for destruction at Alewife. The group lives by the constant REAL slogan of the Cambridge Machine: “Don’t look at what we are destroying; look at how great we sound when we yell at the other guy.”

The Cambridge Machine / “Friends” of Alewife has had another victory in its fight for possibly total destruction of the irreplaceable Alewife reservation.

The Alewife area needs flood storage. The lie put out when they quietly fought for the first outright destruction was that they were providing flood storage. The “flood storage” provided by that destruction would protect against the worst possible rain storm in a two year period. Alewife has seen two fifty year storms in the last twenty years. Alewife should have protection against hundred year storms.

There has been readily available protection for the area without the destruction this fake group fights for. It could have gone under the massive parking lot across CambridgePark Drive which stretches to Alewife Brook Parkway.

This fake group has kept people looking at everything else while a major condo project has started construction where the most obvious flood storage should go.

There is still a site adjacent to the existing destruction which is slated for a condo project. The balance of the massive parking lot across CambridgePark Drive is still available.

If meaningful flood protection is not provided on these sites, the fake group will have achieved possibly total destruction of the Alewife reservation. Their stalling and misdirection would leave no other target for the flood protection.

I have previously offered the Chronicle photographs of the destruction this fake group has bragged about at Alewife, and of the parking lot where a lot of the flood storage should have gone.

I am still happy to provide those photographs. Reality at Alewife would be very nice on the first page of your second section.

Day 403, Patrick Administration: rotten at the Charles River, self praise at Warren Swear In

1. Day 403 at the Destroyed Nesting Area of the Charles River White Geese.
2. Commuter Rail Gets Really Rotten.
3. Governor Deval Patrick praised.
4. Irresponsible Cambridge (MA) City Councilor present at Senator Warren celebration.

1. Day 403 at the Destroyed Nesting Area of the Charles River White Geese.

I kept track of our visibilities at the Destroyed Nesting Area, reporting each by its number, and the real number (because of groupings of reports) is higher. It has been 17 months since I last reported a numbered visibility. I got sloppy and just stopped counting.

The corruption evident in the current attacks of Commuter Rail on the Charles River White Geese yesterday afternoon in the late afternoon, normal rush hour except it was a Saturday, was such that I got out my leaflets and leafleted. No sign, just leaflets. This will be the first visibility reported without a “Save the Geese” sign.

People were nice and concerned.

I use the word corruption accurately.

Government corruption is a matter of exceeding one’s authorized power for personal benefit or for the benefit of friends.

The situation described below exactly fits government corruption.

2. Commuter Rail Gets Really Rotten.

On Saturday, the same bureaucrat was posted just inside the entrance to the Destroyed Nesting Area of the Charles River White Geese. He lied to people that the Destroyed Nesting Area is a work zone, hard hat only.

[2012/12-12, Walgreen’s; 08-18, DNA]

Here is a photo of the work zone, which is the railroad tracks.

The destroyed nesting area illegally turned into a parking lot is to the right of the trees which are to the right of the railroad track / construction area.

[2012/12-12, Walgreen’s; 20-06, DNA]

Here is a photo of the corrupt behavior he is trying to keep as secret as possible and abusing his office in order to hide the corruption.

This is a photo of that portion of the Nesting Area which was held sacred in the BU Bridge repairs.

The railroad tracks are to the right of the trees to the right which are the same trees shown in the previous photo.

[2012/07-22, Walgreen’s, reverse order; 02 24 07-22, DNA Terrace]

Here is a photo of where the bureaucrat defending corruption in public was standing, in the opening to the right of the fence.

The brick structure is Memorial Drive. Under that structure is where responsible people parked for the BU Bridge project, and under Memorial Drive to the left.

[2011/03-16, Clark; 01 02-13-11, Rotary from West]

Here is a photo of where responsible people would be parking private vehicles from the far end of the responsible parking area. Vehicles from workers on the BU Bridge project, to the right were required to park under Memorial Drive, the brick structure to the left. The entrance to the nesting area where the guardian of corruption was stationed is straight ahead and slightly to the right of the car in the middle which is preparing to go up the on ramp.

The guardian of corruption in public, as usual, prohibited photos of the publicly corrupt behavior. He then took a whole bunch of photos of me. His photos did not bother me. I am not trying to hide corruption. I am publicizing it.

3. Governor Deval Patrick praised.

I had just come from the second swearing in ceremony for newly elected Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Prominent in the meeting was Governor Deval Patrick. Also prominent in the meeting was praise for Governor Deval Patrick’s performance in office.

The celebration occurred at Roxbury Community College, perhaps three miles from this continuing outrage.

Governor Patrick’s office has received copies of prior reports on this continuing outrage. The responses were noncommital.

4. Irresponsible Cambridge (MA) City Councilor present at Senator Warren celebration.

I came within a foot of one of the rotten members of the Cambridge City Council at the Senator Warren swearing in. I do not associate with such people.

She is belligerent in her support for heartless animal abuse on the Charles River.

She is one member of a unanimous Cambridge City Council which has never voted for or taken a vote on whether the Cambridge City Manager should be fired for destroying the life of Melvina Monteiro. Jury, trial judge and appeals courts panel were quite united in public communication of their disgust at the Cambridge City Manager’s malfeasance in office.

This black Cape Verdean woman was fired because she filed one of several civil rights complaints complaining that she and other female employees of the City of Cambridge were discriminated against because they are women.

These strong judicial condemnations would easily support the firing of the Cambridge City Manager. The judicial condemnations were simply ignored. Ignoring reality is very much normal in the City of Cambridge. The pols then proceed to declare themselves holier than thou in spite of reality.

I think Senator Warren and others on the stage made very strong comments in favor of women’s rights.

Interesting.

Governmental Destructiveness persists at the Destroyed Nesting Area of the Charles River White Geese

In the BU Bridge project, the bureaucrats went through the form of responsibility.

They destroyed about half the Nesting Area of the Charles River White Geese, bounded by the BU Bridge, the Charles River, the Grand Junction Railroad, and a Memorial Drive on ramp, when they only needed to destroy about a third.

Now they are destroying the rest and, through corrupt behavior, are trying to keep the destruction as secret as possible.

Since the beginning of December, Commuter Rail has been working on the Grand Junction Railroad Bridge under the BU Bridge.

If they, and Cambridge and the Department of Conservation and Recreation were responsible entities, private vehicles would be parked under the Memorial Drive overpass. That is where the cars of the BU Bridge workers were parked.

But no, they have been parking their private vehicles in the environmentally sensitive area that had been the last undestroyed part of the formerly mile long habitat of the Charles River White Geese. This environmentally sensitive area was protected during the BU Bridge repairs. But these poor dear construction workers are apparently abused by walking to work a shorter distance than did the BU Bridge workers. So they are destroying the tiny home of the Charles River White Geese.

And last Friday, the bureaucrats started ordering their environmentally corrupt destruction be kept secret, photos prohibited.

This fits the goals of Cambridge and the DCR. The DCR’s policies are to kill off all animals in the Charles River Basin. That is in their secret definition of “park.”

This fits the destruction at Alewife. In October and November 2011, Cambridge and the DCR conducted a pogrom of animals over acres of the Alewife reservation as part of their destruction of that irreplaceable treasure. They lied that they were providing meaningful flood protection and lied that the destruction was necessary. Now they seem to be on the way to apparently total destruction.

The bureaucrat who ordered “no photos” had an additional threat. They are going to “repair” the damage. What is the DCR and Cambridge’s idea of repair? As much as they can get away with toward killing off all animals.

The “repair” for the BU Bridge project was bushes. What does the DCR do with bushes, with the approval of Cambridge? Look no further than the walling off of Magazine Beach from the Charles River with massive bushes. These bushes have been allowed to grow and overwhelm things. They have starved the 30 year resident Charles River White Geese by keeping them away from their food of most of the last 30 years at Magazine Beach.

For photos of the current destruction, before and during, please see http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2012/12/bureaucrats-allow-railroad-to-raise.html and at http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2012/12/nesting-are-of-charles-river-white.html.

Note that the outrageous personal parking is fully and clearly separated from the construction zone at the railroad tracks and is only a few hundred feet from the readily available parking area under Memorial Drive.

For photos of the outrage of the reality of the introduced bushes, please see http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2012/08/magazine-beach-using-vegetation-for.html.

But they do love to claim environmental sainthood.
