Major Expansion of Government Reprehensible Destruction at Magazine Beach on the Charles River

Major Expansion of Government Reprehensible Destruction at Magazine Beach on the Charles River

The following is close to the current draft of a letter being sent to the Cambridge, MA, USA City Council.  A lot of their members claim to be environmental saints.  They are not telling the truth.

1. The Outrage.
2. The Solution.

1 The Outrage.

A. General.

We must apologize that we have concentrated in the truly heinous plans the , MA, USA, City Council and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation  support at Magazine Beach on the Charles River and on which they are playing funding games to tell their constituents to ignore the major praise for destruction there.

During the past few days, the Cambridge City Council and the DCR started truly heinous destruction which the bunch of then intend to inflict on Magazine Beach, with the PAID SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE of the Poisoner of the Charles River..

Here is the view they just destroyed.  THEY HAVE DESTROYED ALL VEGETATION SEEN IN THIS PHOTO.  This is the main entrance to Magazine Beach, the last turn in  the pedestrian walkway over Memorial Drive.  This photo is cropped from page 22 of our City Council letter of June 6, 2017 objecting to their outrages which are now accelerating.  Our letter is posted at http://focrwg.com/agenda1.html

We note letters from the Poisoner of the Charles River and related in the City Council communications for October 21, 2019.  The source of their praise AND THE VIEW DESTROYED FROM THE PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY to Magazine Beach show exactly what the SAPLINGS Cambridge City Council is trying to con people into praising are worth as “replacements” for this excellence they should not destroy.  And this is just the latest of their outrages.

We are confident that responsible people who react with outrage to the poisoning of the Charles River will react similarly as they become aware of the outrages the Cambridge City Council and the DCR are inflicting on Magazine Beach proper.  And they will not be fooled by saplings or by the lovely words the Cambridge City Council used in funding the Charles River Poisoner for further work destructive to the environmental of the Charles River and Magazine Beach.

B. Before and After of THIS PART OF THE OUTRAGE.

Here are before and after pictures from the ground level by Phil Barber.  The X’s identify the before and after photos of the DCR and Cambridge CREATED outrage.  The left tree in the before picture DOMINATED the view as people approach this turn on the Magazine Beach side of the Memorial Drive Pedestrian Bridge.

After pictures are as follows:

The above photo is of the remnants of the tree to the left in the before picture teken from the ground.

Until they destroyed these excellent trees, this view was impossible from the pedestrian overpass from which this after photo was rather clearly taken.

This tree, UNTIL THEY DESTROYED IT, was the right tree in the before picture taken from the ground.

Look at the excellence of the undestroyed trees, especially as viewed from the overpass in the first photo.  Most of the vegetation is from the left tree looking from this side, but this tree is visible to the left looking from that opposite side.

Phil did a much better job of photographing them through the area of destruction than we did on pages 21 and 22 of the June 6, 2016 letter, or will the better view of the balance of the grove from the overpass be used as part of their attempt to get undeserved praises at outrages?

The highway in the last picture is Memorial Drive.  The lanes in the middle go over the BU Rotary.  The lane to the right go to the BU Bridge, the Destroyed Nesting Area of the Charles River White Geese and to the destroyed home of the Charles River White Geese for most of their 38 year residence, the eastern part of the playing fields.

C. The Plans for THIS PART OF THE OUTRAGE.

And here are the destruction plans filed with the Cambridge Conservation Commission and included by me on page 19 of the June 6, 2017 letter which is posted on the Charles River White Geese internet page at http://focrwg.com/agenda1.html.  It was subsequently fully posted again, and has repeatedly been cited.

If the reader is having trouble understanding these plans, so did we.  The reality, however, is that the DCR benefits from having unreadable plans.  People have difficulty griping if they cannot figure out or communicate the plans.

In the black and white, THE OFFICIAL, filing, a major tree shows being destroyed just below the path.  That is the left tree in Phil Barber’s before picture.  NO ADJACENT DESTRUCTION IS SHOWN, and a lot of trees show.  The color version, THE UNOFFICIAL CON GAME, includes the right tree being destroyed.  Remember the secret definition of the colored lines: The DCR fraud claims a right to destroy ANY AND ALL TREES which have passed the peak of their beauty, NO MATTER HOW EXCELLENT.

Just more fraud.

D. The Context for THIS PART OF THE OUTRAGE.

On general principles, here are photos of this excellent grove from the Memorial Drive side and the Magazine Beach side. They excellence of the grove did interfere with light from the Memorial Drive Side.

From the Magazine Beach side.  The walkway visible in the second photo from Memorial Drive is visible on the left in this photo.  Cambridge's Morse School is visible across Memorial Drive.  View of the bridge is SO FAR blocked by the trees

Please note from the Destruction Plans above, however, that Cambridge and the DCR have more excellent trees to destroy even in this excellent grove.  Additionally, please note that wanton destruction commonly exceed publicly announced plans.

The strongest thing the Cambridge City Council has going for it is the constant INCORRECT belief, “They would never stoop so low.”

E. Further parts of the OUTRAGE.

Destruction, construction and planning as stated in our letter of June 6, 2017 as posted at http://focrwg.com/agenda1.html, and any and all subsequent expansions of these plans or related actions should be terminated.

The following are only the most extreme samples.

Poisoning of the River Banks of the Charles River or the Charles River by whatever euphemism, i.e. fertilizer, chemicals, etc.

Destruction of Excellent Trees.

Abuse of resident animals either on Magazine Beach or on other parts of the Charles River or areas abutting the Charles River, including but not limited to the installation f barriers to access by whatever name.

Some of the worst targets for THEIR DESTRUCTION are:

The magnificent willow at the southwest corner of the playing fields / southeast corner of the park.

The magnificent grove overhanging the playing fields at the middle of its western edge.

The magnificent park in the middle of Magazine Beach of which 30 or more trees are doomed.

The MicroCenter Grove west of the Magazine Beach Swimming Pool.

The Cambridge City Council has already, as secretly as possible, awarded a contract to the Charles River Poisoner for early planning to lead to the destruction of these six magnificent trees.

The Charles River is in the background.  The destroyers want to move the parking lot on top of the grove.

Some of the trees in this latter photo are not part of the six doomed and excellent trees.

2, The Solution.

A. Terminate any and all contracts and / or funding controlled by the City of Cambridge with regard to Construction or Destruction on or adjacent to Memorial Drive, Magazine Beach, the Charles River or land areas associated with the Charles River, with the Department of Conservation and Recreation, and any and all Government Agency, Contractors or others, to include but not limited to the Poisoner of the Charles River.

B, Order any and all governmental and / or other entities performing any and all construction, destruction, planning or other work on Memorial Drive, Magazine Beach, the Charles River or land areas associated with the Charles River to Cease and Desist such activities.

C. Obtain Emergency Assistance from the Legislature to Cease and Desist any and all construction, destruction, planning or other work on Memorial Drive, Magazine Beach, the Charles River or land areas associated with the Charles River to Cease and Desist such activities.

D. Obtain Court Assistance to obtain orders to Cease and Desist any and all construction, destruction, planning or other work on Memorial Drive, Magazine Beach, the Charles River or land areas associated with the Charles River to Cease and Desist such activities.

E. On an Emergency Basis, obtain Legislative approval to strip all activities and / or funding from the Department of Conservation and Recreation in Cambridge and / or the Charles River, and to transfer same to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

F. Bar the Charles River Poisoner from any and all work in Cambridge or on the Charles River.

G. Obtain such additional relief from any and all bodies as may be appropriate to protect Cambridge and the Charles River from depredations by the Department of Conservation and Recreation and / or the Charles River Poisoner.

More EXCELLENT Tree Destruction Imminent on the Charles River from the Destructive Cambridge City Council.

More EXCELLENT Tree Destruction Imminent on the Charles River from the Destructive Cambridge City Council.

1. Phil Reports.

Sent 10/15/19:

Hi Bob. I was disturbed to find red dots spray-painted on the trunk of a venerable old maple at MB the other day. It's the only tree near the water that survived from  the pre-2009 work. It is next to the baseball diamond. A pic is below, with an inset detail enlargement of the red dots which go all around the trunk.

2. Analysis.

Phil’s concerns about the orange marks are emphatically demonstrated in our video on the destruction of hundreds of mostly excellent trees east of this area by Cambridge and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation.  These are marks of DOOM.  The video is posted at:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTplCCEJP7o.

I have checked the destruction plans filed with the Cambridge Conservation Commission as I passed them on to the Cambridge City Council by my letter of June 6, 2017.  This is yet another SECRET addition to the destruction plans.  So this makes the mostly excellent trees being destroyed increase to 60 to 62.

The plans with corresponding photos are posted at http://focrwg.com/agenda1.html.  That package said 54 to be destroyed.

There were many destroyed without responsible notification that we are aware of.  That brings the destruction we are certain of up to 60.

The reason for the variation in numbers is excellent trees chopped up and piled next to the 80 year abandoned bathhouse in this picture.  We are not certain where these destroyed trees came from.  There clearly are at least two and they clearly were destroyed as a result of the city council’s second SECRET funding vote on the ongoing outrage.

In other recent developments, the Cambridge City Council has reacted to my report on the poisoning of the Charles River, essentially posted at https://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2019/09/state-agency-admits-to-poisoning.html.

A complaint from me to the Cambridge City Council at the time of destruction e is posted by the City of Cambridge at http://cambridgema.iqm2.com/Citizens/FileOpen.aspx?Type=1&ID=1875&Inline=True.  Pages 163 to 167

The Cambridge City Council at its most recent meeting funded the appointment of the Poisoner of the Charles River to do further environmental activities on the banks of the Charles for the Cambridge City Council.  This was buried in a very complicated package called Community Preservation Act actions.  There was no meaningful public hearing or advance public communication.

The proof of the Charles River poisoning was provided to me to the Cambridge City Council in a letter essentially published on this blog at:  https://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2019/09/state-agency-admits-to-poisoning.html.

The immediately previous link is to city records.  This link is to my blog report on the corresponding letter.  The differences in content tends to be minor, except that the letters do much more effective work with graphics.  If you try to check the prior link, you will find that you are opening a very large file and then have to scroll through 163 pages to get to the letter.  On line you have it directly.

The nicer things are worded in Cambridge, the greater the possible danger of the action.  Those activities by the Charles River Poisoner will very likely lead to the destruction of the excellent seven tree grove across from the Memorial Drive MicroCenter shopping center and west of the Magazine Beach Swimming Pool:

Here are two photos of the doomed grove:

The electorate in the City of Cambridge expects environmental responsibility from its City Councilors.

At the same time as moving this outrage forward with various mostly SECRET votes, the Cambridge City Council passed a tree protection ordinance.  It EXEMPTS the City of Cambridge.

There is a lot of lying about environmental sainthood from the Cambridge City Council.

Bimal Nepal Video in Homage to the Charles River White Geese

Bimal Nepal Video in Homage to the Charles River White Geese: .

1, Video of beautiful animals.
2. Limited History.
3. The plans, related photos.
4. What to do.

1. Video of beautiful animals.

I found a new video on the 38 year resident Charles River White Geese.  It is a few years old, but I have not seen it before.  There are a lot of homages to the Charles River White Geese on the Internet.

The video is entitled: “White Geese: Charles River Cambridge, Massachusetts.”  It is by Bimal Nepal, Photographer, it is posted at https://www.facebook.com/NepalPhoto/videos/996539797085998/.

Here is a still from the video.

The video combines a good view of the gaggle in a portion of the Destroyed Nesting Area of the 38 year resident Charles River White Geese which has a history and which is threatened using corrupt tactics.

This tiny area is all that remains of a habitat which extended a mile or so on the northern (Cambridge) bank of the Charles River, centered on the BU Bridge.  A very major and beautiful tourist attraction bringing in admirers from around the world and Boston suburbs; admirers as diverse as the maker of this filmed homage.

2. Limited History.

This portion was thickly vegetated with the sort of habitat which is excellent for wild animals.  It did not resemble the gardens the destroyers demand that they destroy habitat to create.  It was habitat.

The large area away from the BU Bridge was destroyed NEEDLESSLY as part of the rebuild of the BU Bridge as established by Department of Conservation and Recreation “planners.”

The area right next to the BU Bridge had to be destroyed for access in the BU Bridge project.  The DCR’s outrageous plans destroyed an area parallel to the ramp next to the Memorial Drive overpass in addition to a relatively limited area which needed to be destroyed for access to the BU Bridge.

The lie was that the state would ameliorate the destruction, but the DCR does not maintain its “creations.”  So silly garden bushes were simply allowed to die and were replaced with the dirt which was created by the needless destruction of this area.

A lot of stones were dumped by railroad workers after the BU Bridge work.  The Cambridge Conservation Commission condemned that work.  So the DCR had them move further from the Charles River than the end of the CCC jurisdiction.  This area is not in the CCC jurisdiction.

Most of the stones visible in this video were deliberately dumped into the animal habitat in accordance with DCR “plans.”

The video gives the impression of one continuous shoot walking around the gaggle of the Charles River White Geese.  It is possible to see one of the added tools of starvation in the video, orange plastic blocking off the entrance to the Destroyed Nesting Area.

The Charles River White Geese did an unacceptable thing through that entrance.  They went through it for food, grass, under the Memorial Drive overpass.  They were responsible jaywalkers.  They would wait on the sidewalk until all cars had cleared, and then cross to their food.  Unfortunately, they walked like geese.  Some dawdled.  That did not bother the drivers.  They admired the beauty.

But they were feeding.  Feeding by free animals is unacceptable to the sick people controlling the DCR.  So they blocked the entrance with orange plastic.

The camera shows the hill under the side walk.  It shows the BU Bridge.

3. The plans, related photos.

This location is key in FRAUDULENT meetings being conducted by the DCR with the blessing of the City of Cambridge.

The location was in the plans for destruction during the January 2016 outrage documented in our video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTplCCEJP7o.

The fraud in the ongoing planning has been analyzed at https://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2019/09/fraudulent-massachusetts-cambridge-ma.html.

The DCR working with the City of Cambridge is planning further destruction and lying about what it is doing.  Nothing unusual.

Here are the plans from the destruction plans for January 2016.

The lines running vaguely diagonal from bottom to top are the Grand Junction railroad.  To the right is the Wild Area.  To the left is the Destroyed Nesting Area of the Charles River White Geese.  The above still is taken slightly to the left of and below the large blacked in circle which denotes the magnificent tree in the second following photo.

Here is a photo of the Wild Area.  The white figures in the Charles River are a gaggle of the Charles River White Geese.  They are looking for what little food has not been denied them by Cambridge and the DCR.

In addition to being part of the last refuge in the area for free animals, the Wild Area is an excellent part of the view crossing the BU Bridge, from which the photo is taken, and from Memorial Drive, vaguely visible above the tracks between the Destroyed Nesting Area on the left, and the Wild Area on the right.  The plans show exactly one tree NOT DESTROYED in the Wild Area.

We are dealing with extreme incompetence.  The people doing the “planning” poisoned the Charles River this year in an expansion of the introduction of poisons into the Magazine Beach playing fields in the 2000's outrage.  Our report on this is at http://cambridgema.iqm2.com/Citizens/FileOpen.aspx?Type=1&ID=2104&Inline=True.  The report includes a sign posted by the DCR admitting responsibility.

Trucks doing the destruction of the Wild Area would travel through the area where the Charles River White Geese are shown in the video, to the left in this photo.

The large blackened circle in the DNA part of the plans show this magnificent tree being destroyed, another part of the excellent view for all.

The tree is above the camera in the video.

As is not unusual in DCR actions, their publicity of their plans is FRAUDULENT.  The announcement says they are not developing east of the BU Bridge.  The BU Bridge is to the left in all these photos, and visible in part of the video.

At a meeting I leafleted, a lot of destructive people showed up to cheer on destruction.  Responsible people did not show up in such numbers.  That, after all, is normal when you have fraud which hides destruction.  The irresponsible people show up to praise.  The responsible people are silly enough to expect honesty from a government which says it is not working in this area.

Slides posted on the Internet found on careful search show the work area running to the right / east of the BU Bridge, to the eastern end of the Wild Area.  Those slides are are kept secret in the meeting announcement.  This sort of thing is called “getting things done” by the terrible type of people we are dealing with.

Here is one of the slides.  The BU Bridge is the downward appendage.  The DNA and the Wild Area is the abutting area to the right.

There are constant views of the Charles River White Geese in this area in the video.  Here is a more noble photo of them admiring the Charles at a location a good distance behind the camera, but still in their Destroyed Nesting Area.

The impending destruction here is comparable to the poisoning of the Charles River by the DCR, link above.

The woman who was the DCR’s agent in the poisoning of the Charles River was recently given a contract by the Cambridge City Council for environmental decision making as part of the imminent destruction of 59 or more trees by the DCR and the Cambridge City Council in the Magazine Beach recreation area, west of the BU Bridge.  The vote included furtherance of her fight to destroy vegetation she does not like which was her excuse for poisoning the Charles.

In another context, the Charles River Poisoner has been called the City Council / a particular Councilor’s“kind of activists” with regard to one of the many SECRET votes taken concerning the Charles by the Cambridge City Council.  That particular SECRET vote saw no other explanation for the vote.

4. What to do.

There is a solution to all this destruction.  The legislature tried to protect state properties from the destructiveness of the DCR’s predecessor on the Charles River, the Metropolitan District Commission.  The legislature implemented this contempt for the MDC by destroying the MDC.  The legislature gave the Charles River responsibilities of the MDC to the DCR and to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, MassDOT.

MassDOT has been the adult in the room with the destruction, incompetence and animal abuse of the DCR and the City of Cambridge.  MassDOT has been frequently been a shining light, especially when compared to the lack of responsibility of the two entities with whom it has been associated.

The legislature should finish the job on the Charles River.  It should give the DCR properties on the Charles River to MassDOT.
