Charles River, MA: Magazine Beach Destruction: Part 7, Destruction Starts.

Charles River, MA:   Magazine Beach Destruction: Part 7, Destruction Starts.

I. Introduction.
II. Letter of Notice addressed to Cambridge City Manager and City Council.
III. Official Report, Prior Reports in this Series.

I. Introduction.

This is Part 7 of a series placing on the internet record, our attempts at preventing YET MORE DESTRUCTION on the Charles River by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, by the City of Cambridge, MA, and by their cheerleaders.  Check the last section of this report for links to referenced documents which are not directly attached to the reference.

The first 6 parts of this series present sections of our 51 page letter to the Cambridge City Council responding to the vote of the Cambridge City Council to help the DCR in its destruction.  Key in the vote were two things:

(1) They preceded the vote with a rally for themselves on the steps of Cambridge City Hall, deifying themselves for their environmental sainthood, and

(2) They gave the impression that all they, and their accomplices were doing is destroying “dead and dying” trees.  The introduction to our letter wiped out the fraudulent word game which is the source of this false claim, and we presented photos of EVERY tree in the parklands of which they had voted to subsidize the destruction.

We have been interrupted in our presentation of this outrage because the destruction has started.  “Somebody” has destroyed a massive tree and filled in the hole.  The massive tree is part of part 4 of this report, published a few days ago.  It seems reasonable to assumed that the “somebody” was the DCR.

A photo of the destroyed tree taken from the report is provided below in section II.

Here is a DCR map of  Magazine Beach.  The destroyed tree was close to the bottom arrow of the double arrow graphic.

We noticed the destruction on Wednesday, June 21.  We filed letter of notice on Thursday, June 22 with the Cambridge City Manager and with the Cambridge City Clerk for the next meeting of the Cambridge City Council on June 26.

The letter follows:

II. Letter of Notice addressed to Cambridge City Manager and City Council.

RE: Beginning of destruction of 54 Mostly Excellent Trees at Magazine Beach.  Communication 10 in a series

Gentlemen / Ladies:

This follows on my letter of June 6, 2017 and on all of the references therein.

On April 24, 2017, a lot of members of the Cambridge City Council conducted a rally on the front steps of City Hall, claiming to be environmental saints.  The City Council, in its first order, based on a key falsehood, then proceeded to support the destruction of 54 mostly excellent trees, the continuation and expansion of the use of poisons on the banks of the Charles River, the continuation of the bizarre wall of introduction vegetation blocking off the Charles River, and the continuation of Cambridge and the DCR’s heartless animal abuse, plus set the stages for a whole bunch of other bad stuff.

One of the many bad items being fought for is an update of the Inner Belt over the Grand Junction railroad bridge and following the Grand Junction northwards, based on the MBTA study in 2003.

The first destruction has occurred.  This one was probably a “dead and dying tree” as opposed to the fraudulent claims which targeted the 54 MOSTLY EXCELLENT trees targeted in order 1 of April 24, 2017.

Order 1 was based on the fraudulent use of words which gave the lying impression that the 54 doomed and mostly excellent trees were anything but.

You may refresh your memory of what you voted for by reviewing Cambridge records, my letter of June 6, 2017, posted at http://cambridgema.iqm2.com/Citizens/FileOpen.aspx?Type=1&ID=1815&Inline=True, pages 198 to 249.

The vote was based on fraud, the clear and false implication that 54 mostly excellent trees were “dead and dying,” based on words which were a false expansion of skillful fraud by the DCR as demonstrated in my letter.

The responsible thing to do is to implement the wishes of the legislature when the legislature destroyed the Metropolitan District Commission, in part to protect the Charles River from the destruction of its irresponsible “planners” in conjunction with the irresponsible “planners” of the Cambridge Development Department, and their controlled fake “protective groups.”

The reprehensible MDC “planners” took their irresponsible plans to the Department of Conservation and Recreation.  They and the CDD and the Cambridge City Council are proceeding to implement those irresponsible plans.  Hundreds of MOSTLY EXCELLENT trees have already been destroyed on the Charles River, as demonstrated in my videos at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTplCCEJP7o, and https://youtu.be/dWyCdcWMuAA.

Order 1 of April 22, 2017 seeks the destruction of an additional 54 MOSTLY EXCELLENT trees.  One has already been destroyed.

Behave in a manner consistent with the proclamations of environmental sainthood on the steps of City Hall on April 24, 2017.

Fulfill the wishes of the legislature when the legislature destroyed the MDC.

Reverse Order 1 of April 24, 2017.

Prevent any and all alternate sources of funding for this and for ALL SIMILAR OR RELATED outrages, including but not limited to actions of the legislature.

Reverse the destruction of the 2000s by Cambridge and the DCR / MDC.

Oppose the secret fine print in the blatantly deceptive Davis communication.

[Ed.   Details on the Davis communication have been posted in two parts.

[(1) Letter to the Secretary / CEO of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, posted at http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2017/06/charles-river-con-game-fights-for.html; and

[(2) supporting letter attached to the MassDOT letter which in turn was presented to the Cambridge City Manager as a welcome to his new appointment.  The letter briefly went into Cambridge’s fake “protective group” system as he had just been exposed to it, and, as an example of reality in Cambridge, the letter gave a glaring and readily provable example of malfeasance in office by his new Cambridge Development Department over a period of 21 years plus, posted at http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2017/06/charles-river-trust-cambridge-ma-usas.html.]

Give the DCR’s powers on the Charles River to the Department of Transportation which has split the former MDC powers with the DCR since the MDC was properly destroyed.

MassDOT is not perfect.  The DCR and “planners” of the CDD approach being perfect from the wrong direction.

Hopefully, City Manager DePasquale will clean up the outrages remaining from the preceding 42 years of three destructive City Managers by severely pruning the destructiveness of the CDD, which fits hand in glove with the reprehensible DCR / MDC.

In the meantime, here is a photo of the first tree to be destroyed as part of the very terrible destruction of these 54 MOSTLY EXCELLENT TREES on the Charles River IN ADDITION TO THE HUNDREDS ALREADY DESTROYED.

One less supposed justification for this outrageous destruction.

This photo is taken from my letter of June 6.

Sincerely,

Robert J. La Trémouille, individually and as
Chair, Friends of the White Geese

IV. Official Report, Prior Reports in this Series.

I. Introductory.

This is the sixth report in a series presenting on the Internet a letter delivered to the Cambridge, MA, USA City Manager on June 6, 2017, and to the Cambridge, MA, USA by way of the City Clerk at the City Council meeting of June 12, 2017.  The complete letter is posted by the Cambridge City Clerk in Color at http://cambridgema.iqm2.com/Citizens/FileOpen.aspx?Type=1&ID=1815&Inline=True, pages 198 to 149.

This report follows on the April 24, 2017 vote by the Cambridge City Council to seek money to support destruction by the Department of Conservation and Recreation of the Magazine Beach Recreation Area on the Charles River, including 54 mostly excellent trees, plus continuation and expansion of poisons on the banks of the Charles River, plus continuation and expansion of heartless animal abuse.

The Cambridge City Council took this action as the first order in its meeting IMMEDIATELY following a rally by Cambridge City Councilors on the steps of Cambridge City Hall praising themselves for their environmental sainthood.

This portion of the Internet transcription presents our sixth package of detailed photos of the destruction.  We are proceeding from east to west.  This segment continues the REALLY BIG TREE DESTRUCTION.

This destruction is of the magnificent grove which stands on the hill at the western end of the playing fields and dominates the playing fields.

These trees include very large, truly excellent, trees.  They continue the worst of the horror.

The constant “explanation” of the fake group on the front line is:   Do not look at what we are destroying.  Look at what we tell you to look at.

Magazine Beach is west of the BU Bridge on the Charles River.  You can also look at THE MOST RECENT PART OF the record of these terrible people, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, the City of Cambridge, and their always varying front organizations / cheerleaders.

Here is a DCR map of the area in which the DCR, Cambridge, and their cheerleaders have destroyed already:

The destroyed area is the upper (northern) bank of the Charles River running from the BU Bridge on the far left to the Longfellow Bridge toward the top right.

The hundreds of trees plus animal habitat they have destroyed east of the BU Bridge on the Charles River is presented in our video on line at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTplCCEJP7o.

The reality of their “improvements” after the destruction East of the BU Bridge is presented at https://youtu.be/dWyCdcWMuAA.

The area they are attacking now is the area to the west of the BU Bridge running almost to the next bridge, the River Street Bridge.  Here is another DCR Map.

The Magazine Beach Recreation Area is the green area above the Charles River.  The BU Bridge is the grey area at the far right.  The gray line above the green area is Memorial Drive, the boulevard following the Charles River on its north.

The destruction in this report is below (south) of the bottom of the double edged arrow.  The magnificent grove being destroy stands at the curve facing the playing fields, a crucial act of environmental desecration..

It is at the top of a hill overlooking the Magazine Beach playing fields which were discussed in prior parts of this report.

The entire letter to the Cambridge City Manager and City Council is presented in the official report of that Cambridge City Council meeting.  The file is large and takes quite a bit of time to download.  It may be viewed in color at http://cambridgema.iqm2.com/Citizens/FileOpen.aspx?Type=1&ID=1815&Inline=True, pages 198 to 249.

In Section II(1), we present formal communcations which go into the outrage which is the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, into the Cambridge Development Department and into the lying machine through which the CDD and DCR do so many terrible things to the environment in and near Cambridge, MA.

The legislature, among other things, tried to protect the Charles River from the destructiveness of the Metropolitan District Commission when it destroyed the MDC.  But the planners went to the DCR and have proceeded with the outrages.

The DCR bureaucrats have fellow destroyers controlling the City of Cambridge in the Cambridge Development Department and the collection of fake protective groups which have developed around the CDD during the reign of three Cambridge City Managers from 1974 to 2016.  There is a new City Manager in office who is a lifelong Cambridge Resident which decades in Cambridge government, but independent from the DCD.  Hopefully, he will clean up the mess he has inherited.

The outrage which is the DCR should be cleansed from the Charles River by action of the legislature comparable to the action by which the legislature destroyed the MDC in the first place.

The DCR should be replaced on the Charles River by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation which got the balance of the MDC’s power on the Charles River.

MassDOT is not perfect, but MassDOT has stood up to multiple outrages by the DCR and CDD.  DCR and CDD and their cheerleaders approach being perfect, but from the wrong direction.

II. Repeats.

(1) Fraudulent Presentations, Heartless Animal Abuse, Poisons, and Flat out Fraud.

(A) The original summary of the overall report to the Cambridge City Manager and Cambridge City Council in the introduction to part 1 and in section 1 presented therewith is excellent, but it is so long that it would be silly to repeat it here.  The original summary is posted at: http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2017/06/charles-river-what-is-being-destroyed.html.

At the same time, the analyses of Cambridge corruption presented in the following reports is of great value.

(B) The first is the debunking of yet another con game fighting for destruction, but is directed to the head of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), copies to the Cambridge City Manager and City Council.

Charles River:   Con Game fights for Destruction:  http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2017/06/charles-river-con-game-fights-for.html

(C) This was attached to the MassDOT letter and is free standing as well.  It welcomed and briefed the then newly appointed (now current) City Manager on the environmental / planning outrage he inherited.  It both briefed him on the latest fake organization, the one which is most visible in the front line fighting for destruction on the Charles River, and briefed him on the Cambridge Development Department, pulling a lot of strings from behind the scenes.

This report goes into detail on a 21 year plus fraud in which CCD lied as to the non existence of a major part of transportation plans on the Charles River, and EVERY SINGLE “EXPERT” ASSOCIATED WITH THE CITY OF CAMBRIDGE’S FAKE “PROTECTIVE GROUPS” PARROTED THIS BLATANT LIE FOR THE ENTIRE PERIOD.

Charles River:   Trust Cambridge, MA. USA’s Development Dept.?:  http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2017/06/charles-river-trust-cambridge-ma-usas.html.

Links to the prior parts of this series of reports are in the last section below.

(2) Index to Maps, sections 8 to 12, (new text description added).

Here are the two halves of the Black and White Plan for the excellent park on the Magazine Beach Hill.  Marked on the map are portions of the map which show in sections of this report from section 8 to 12.  Areas in sections 6 and 7 extend into the right (eastern) portion reported on previously.

The area in this report is area 9, which is about 2/3 of the way down (south) in the middle of the combined maps below.  The hill which this magnificent grove overhangs is to its right on the map.

The solid grey lines showing to the right of the grove (but separated because of the limits of our scanner) show the outlines of an expensive drainage system created in the 2000s to drain off poisons which Cambridge and the DCR first added to the environment of the playing fields to DRAIN OFF POISON ADDED by Cambridge and the DCR in the 2000s outrages.  We reported on this system earlier.

Cambridge and the DCR, in their love for poisons clearly are adding poisons to the areas east of the BU Bridge and throughout the area of destruction at Magazine Beach.  Please note, however, that poison usage is kept as secret as possible so that Cambridge and the DCR can lie that they are environmentally responsible.  The statements in this paragraph are the result of 40 years of watching the CDD lying through omission of what terrible things it is doing, combined with observing the more blatant and destructive corruption coming out of the DCR.

A comment at one meeting from one of the “planners” sniffing at the “quality” of the native grass on the hill clearly indicated an intent to destroy and improve with their beloved poison drinking grass.

The short of it is they love poisons on the banks of the Charles River..

  III. Main New Material.

This section continues to use the numbering in the 51 page letter to the Cambridge City Manager and Cambridge City Council from which this material is derived.  It has been edited to change reference language to conform to difference in presentation from hard copy to Blog.

This section presents the destruction of the magnificent grove which stands on the top of the hill at the western end of the Magazine Beach Playing fields.  It dominates the playing fields.

We are honored to include the analysis of this grove by Phil Barber who has decades of experience in this area of the Charles River.

The destruction in this section is truly massive.

9.  . Magnificent Grove on Hill, Overhanging Playing Fields.

A. Maps.

B. General Analysis.

The color package proposes no longer destroying 1 (two trees, Northwest group) of the 3 (10 trees) proposed to be destroyed.  Looking closely at the original package, you will see recognized below the markings 6 or 7 trees rather than the 3 claimed.  Phil Barber does an excellent analysis.

C. Phil Barber Analysis.

(1) Specific Analysis.

Here’s my analysis, which I believe is correctly oriented W/S/E rather than by number

W group (two trunks). Sound, light pruning optional.

SE [five trunks standing]. One trunk is dead, to be removed. Another has dead limbs near the top which should be pruned to encourage new growth and retard the spread of disease.

NE [three trunks, widest lower branching of the group]. Dead limbs in the upper areas of two trunks, to be pruned to encourage new growth and retard the spread of disease.

(2) More General (Earlier) Analysis.

A couple of the trunks are weak and dying and should be pruned. Other than that I would leave them alone. I think there's one that looks iffy in each of the two larger stands, and some of the upper branches have died and should be pruned. I have a number of trees and bushes I've planted at my place and was initially horrified at the idea of severely cutting them back after taking so much care to see they survived, but they do flourish with such treatment.

It's certainly an outrage to destroy entire stands because of some deadwood or unsightly growth. I see this all too often, that trees that have valiantly survived the elements and abuse are cut down simply because someone judges them not to be sufficiently aesthetic. I imagine people who lack the awareness that these are living beings deserving of care simply see the bottom line, that it's cheaper to ruin an irreplaceable old tree and put in a new one, as if it didn't matter.

I've also seen city workers on the job in the various little parks and public landscaping hacking away willy-nilly at the vegetation blissfully unaware of the difference between weeds and plantings. The lack of concern, and of knowledge, is appalling but such is our time.

Anyway thanks again for all your hard working protecting our resources.

D. Response to Phil Barber.

Please note that the portion of the grove (NE, upper right) that is not to be destroyed as of latest DCR comment needs work but not destruction.

The portion that Phil describes as essentially perfect (W, left) is slated for destruction.  The other portion (SE, lower right) has one tree that needs to be destroyed, and a second with bad limbs.

Terrible department, terrible department.

E. Photos.

The photos in this section are from October 2016 unless stated otherwise.

I strongly suggest that you either contact me at boblat@yahoo.com for the PDF version, or you check the official Cambridge record at http://cambridgema.iqm2.com/Citizens/FileOpen.aspx?Type=1&ID=1815&Inline=True, page 198 to 149, because limitations on this blog severely minimize the quality of the shots I can give you here of these massive trees.

If you go for the official version, be aware that these 51 pages are part of a much larger document, all of which you have to load to see these 51 pages.

I. Introductory.

This is the fifth report in a series presenting on the Internet a report delivered to the Cambridge, MA, USA City Manager on June 6, 2017, and to the Cambridge, MA, USA by way of the City Clerk at the City Council meeting of June 12, 2017..

This portion of the Internet transcription presents our fourth package of detailed photos of the destruction.  We are proceeding from east to west.  This segment continues the REALLY BIG TREE DESTRUCTION.  This destruction is proposed in the area nearest the pedestrian overpass.  It is between the northern part of the Magazine Beach playing fields on the Charles River and the little guys’ parking lot, proposed to be totally destroyed in turn.  South of the little guys’ parking lot and west of this area is another group of four excellent trees..

These trees include very large trees.

The Magazine Beach Recreation Area is the green area above the Charles River.  The BU Bridge is the grey area at the far right.  The gray line above the green area is Memorial Drive, the boulevard following the Charles River on its north.

The destruction in this report is the area surrounding the bottom area of the double pointed arrow which seems to be intended to communicate the pedestrian bridge over Memorial Drive connecting Magazine Beach to the north side of Memorial Drive.  Portions of this bridge show in photos in this report.

It is at the top of a hill overlooking the Magazine Beach playing fields which were discussed in prior parts of this report.

We have communicated destruction of the area to the east of this area in Part 4 of this report.  The areas to the west will follow subsequently.  This area includes the vaguely trapezoidal area next to that arrow point, and includes street trees.

Fraudulent Presentations, Heartless Animal Abuse, Poisons, and Flat out Fraud.

III. Main New Material.

Index to Maps, sections 8 to 12.

This section continues to use the numbering in the 51 page letter to the Cambridge City Manager and Cambridge City Council from which this material is derived.  It has been edited to change reference language to conform to difference in presentation from hard copy to Blog.  It presents destruction nearest the pedestrian overpass and directly east of the to be devastated little guys’ parking lot with ONE TREE NOT DESTROYED.  South of the parking lot and west the current report are four excellent trees which dominate the view from Memorial Drive.

The destruction in this section is equally massive.

Here are the two halves of the Black and White Plan for the Hill.  Marked on the map are portions of the map which show in sections of this report from section 8 to 12.  Areas in sections 6 and 7 extend into the right (eastern) portion below.

Index to Maps, sections 8 to 12.  The two sections connect.  The second is to the right (east) of the first section.

8. Northeast Hill, Northwest playing fields.

A. Maps.

Crops of the relevant parts of the original DCR submission to the Cambridge Conservation Commission, and of the subsequent, unofficial, color version with changes and outrageous fraudulent propaganda.

B. General Analysis.

The color package adds destruction of one tree at the top of the hill from the playing fields, between one third and half the way from the top of the maps.  They just keep destroying.

Translating the fraudulent word games, three of the six they do not even go through nonsense of claiming they have vaguely responsible excuse to destroy.

The fraudulent word games translate the red circles.

One of these magnificent trees is doomed.  It is admitted to be healthy and not to be in the group with less than 50 years left to live.  It is at the top middle of the plans, and it is NOT THE LARGEST.  It is east of the western warning structure for the pedestrian overpass, as viewed in a photo and the colored plan.

I cannot tell from the plans which is doomed.  The plans show the turnaround of the pedestrian overpass to the left of these trees and the ramp between them and the next tree to be destroyed.  This trees are admitted to be healthy and not beyond a day after its peak of beauty (translating the key fraudulent term, “declining”).

The plans, in general, have highly confusing parts.  Not surprising, an excellent way to fool people.  The doomed tree is either the tree on the left or the one on the right.  The one on the right is in better shape and has even more years to live.

Other views of the “large” tree, on the left,  and of the “small” tree, on the right.

(2) Tree at foot of pedestrian over pass.

This one is big and has the orange mark of doom in two locations.  It is straight ahead and to the right at the foot of the ramp.

It could be the furthest west of the dead or dying trees IN THE MAGAZINE BEACH RESERVATION, as opposed to NEAR the Magazine Beach Reservation and added as yet more fraud to get a larger count.  What is that 6?  As justification for destroying 54?  There are 3 more at the swimming pool bath house.

“Dead or dying” wound up in the order 1  motion, giving the lying impression that there were 54 dead or dying trees.

I hope that that motion was written by the Cambridge Development Department, and not by the two City Councilors whose names appeared on it.

(3) Tree Southwest of “Dead / Dying” tree.

This tree is really an extension of the massive trees which are south of the parking lot.  But, looking at the map, it belongs in this group.  A very difficult shot.  The trees, unless, or until, the DCR and the Cambridge City Council get their way, are so thick they obstruct light.

(4) Tree southeast of “dead / dying” Tree.

Tree on the left, I think.  Another problem with the terrible maps. This identification seems correct.  The map shows another tree close to it but behind to the west, both visible from the pedestrian overpass.

(5) Tree east of tree in subsection 4 and near top of hill.

We are getting into relatively small trees at the top of the slope from the playing fields.

It does fit the slope markings.

Tree looks healthy to me.  Now they are destroying their own saplings.  Incredibly, the propaganda map calls this tree beyond the instant after its maximum beauty or dead /diseased.  Rather excellent demonstration of the bizarre reality of their word game, “decline.”

(6) Tree south of tree in subsection 4 and near slope of hill.

Another healthy looking sapling.  According to the propaganda map, they have stated no reason to destroy it except for the destructiveness of the people involved.

The trees above this tree, subject to the destructiveness of the DCR and the Cambridge City Council, are so thick that I waited an hour until I had the right lighting to get this photo.

I. Introductory.

This is the fourth report in a series presenting on the Internet a report delivered to the Cambridge, MA, USA City Manager on June 6, 2017, and to the Cambridge, MA, USA by way of the City Clerk at the City Council meeting of June 12, 2017..

These initiatives respond to the vote of the Cambridge City Council on April 14, 2017, to seek funding from the Cambridge City Manager to assist the Department of Conservation and Recreation in its next round of environmental destruction on the Charles River including destruction of 54 mostly excellent trees, continuation and expansion of use of poisons, and ramping up heartless animal abuse.

The Cambridge City Council preceded this vote with a rally for themselves on the front steps of Cambridge City Hall, alleging their sainthood on environmental matters.  The highly destructive environmental action was first of their policy motions in the meeting.

This portion of the Internet transcription presents our fourth package of detailed photos of the destruction.  We are proceeding from east to west.  This segment presents the first REALLY BIG TREE DESTRUCTION.  This destruction is proposed in the northern part of the Magazine Beach playing fields on the Charles River.

These trees include very large trees.  They are only the beginning of the worst of the horror.

Here is a DCR map of the area in which they have destroyed already:

The destruction in this report runs pretty much east (right) from the bottom of the double arrow as stated in greater detail in the below map.  The MWRA facility mentioned in prior reports shows to the left of the BU Bridge.  The facility is accessed from the DCR parking lot which is the up down white line to its left.  Destruction previously reported in this series first reported destruction following the MWRA facility from the Memorial Drive off ramp to the BU Bridge (part 2), along the parking lot, and then (part 3) reported destruction in the green playing field area to the Charles River except for the northernmost part of the playing fields, which we are reporting below.

The double arrow seems to be intended to communicate the pedestrian bridge over Memorial Drive connecting Magazine Beach to the north side of Memorial Drive.  Portions of this bridge show in photos in this report.

Part 2 of these reports went into the interconnection with the Destroyed Nesting Area of the Charles River White Geese which is at the far left of the second prior map, and is barely visible in part as the green triangle to the right of the BU Bridge in this map.

II. Repeats.

(1) Fraudulent Presentations, Heartless Animal Abuse, Poisons, and Flat out Fraud.

(A) The original presentation in the introduction to part 1 and in section 1 presented therewith is excellent, but it is so long that it would be silly to repeat it here.

(C) This is an attachment to the MassDOT letter.  It welcomed and briefed the then newly appointed (now current) City Manager on the environmental / planning outrage he inherited, both briefing him on the latest fake organization most visible in the front line fighting for destruction on the Charles River, and on the Cambridge Development Department, pulling a lot of strings from behind the scenes.

(2) Index to Maps.

The following map shows the portions of the Magazine Beach Playing Fields on the Charles River as presented in the Report.  Part 1 through 3 present sections 1 through 6.  This segment presents section 7 which shows in the DCR Black and White maps of the main playing field and of the eastern part of the Hill.  These Black and White DCR Maps are below in that order showing where section 7 appears, in context.  Double clicking will greatly increase the size and clarity of the map.

Index to maps, Sections 2 to 7.

Here are the two halves of the Black and White Plan for the Playing Fields.  Marked on the map are portions of the map which show in sections of this report from section 2 to 7.

The eastern portion of the map for the hill also reflects section 6 and 7.

III. Main New Material.

This section continues to use the numbering in the 51 page letter to the Cambridge City Manager and Cambridge City Council from which this material is derived.  It has been edited to change reference language to conform to difference in presentation from hard copy to Blog.

7. Northern Edge of Playing Fields.

A. Maps.

B. General Analysis.

This area is confusing.  There may be more trees here than show in the plans, but the plans are consistent from one to the other.

The color package adds destruction of one tree located to the east of the pedestrian bridge (the grey item to the left) and one tree south of the eastern end of the pedestrian bridge, just above the line of the work area..

Reason for destruction?  There may be one dead tree in the batch.  The rest include trees which only have 50 years left to live.

C. Photos.

(1) General.

Here is the area from the Memorial Drive side, moving from the east to the west.

The view to the west would be decimated.

I will take the question / issues from east to west.

(2) Eastern Portion.

The fourth tree from the eastern end is agreed to be destroyed on both the destruction plans.

Perhaps it is dying, but there is a lot of healthy tree there.  The photo above was taken in May.

The lower photo from October shows its location.  It is the tree on the right.  It definitely is not dead.

The trees to its east (left) are as viewed in the lower picture.

(3) Western Portion.

As we move west, we get into a group of very large trees.  Their size and close proximity makes photography very difficult.  Additionally, the lower branches have been commonly trimmed to allow for the close proximity of the grove of trees and their size.  The second and third proposed to be destroyed, moving east to west were agreed to be destroyed by both plans.  The fourth, added in the propaganda / color plan, towers over the pedestrian walkway.  They all look excellent to me.

The biggest problem is making out the functioning branches particularly on the first one.  These trees are SO big.

Below is the first one of the three, the second proposed to be destroyed moving from east to west.

It is in the center of the photo.  It does look as though its bark is split.  That could be the concern.  But, as Phil comments, trees grow through problems, and this is clearly an ancient, magnificent tree.

The next two doomed trees get even more distressing to see being destroyed.  The pair is below.  The limbs of the nearer (eastern  tree, taken from the overpass, are in the second photo, below.

The fourth tree in this group proposed to be destroyed, the furthest from the east, overwhelms the pedestrian walkway, below.  Why this tree would be is destroyed is inconceivable.

Are these irresponsible people “thinning” out the trees?  Flat out nuts.  But that was one of the many excuses used for the destruction of hundreds of trees east of the BU Bridge.  The excuses rather clearly varied with what the listener would swallow.

Most of the photos in this report were taken in mid May 2017.  I did not do as clear a job on location in taking these photos.  So I am going back to early October 2016.

In the photo below, the green structure barely visible on the left at the middle is the pedestrian overpass.

I hope the dead tree front left is the one added to the destruction list, showing at the bottom left of the color plan. I think the two trees visible closest behind it, right and left are not doomed.  The two further back are doomed, the pair I just mentioned, with the addition by the color plan.

The lighted tree between these five and the field stands would appear to be doomed, the first tree in this current four tree analysis moving from east to west, as shown in the first photo in this subsection (3).

I. Introductory.

This is the third report in a series presenting on the Internet a report delivered to the Cambridge, MA, USA City Manager on June 6, 2017, and to the Cambridge, MA, USA by way of the City Clerk at the City Council meeting of June 12, 2017..

This portion of the Internet transcription presents our third package of detailed photos of the destruction.  We are proceeding from east to west.  This segment presents destruction existing, planned, and intended to be expanded at the playing fields of Magazine Beach in the area from those playing fields to the Charles River.

The trees being destroyed in this segment are truly dead and dying.  They are part of the small minority which fraudulent words claim justify the destruction of 54 trees.  But the situation gets much worse because Cambridge, MA, USA would continue the very terrible situation in the area in question, ON THE BANKS OF THE CHARLES RIVER:

(1) Since the 2000s, this area has been subjected to use of poisons WHICH HAVE FAILED, to the extent they have any business on the banks of the Charles River in the first place.  The plans the Cambridge City Council wants to subsidize would replace failed poison drinking grass with new poison drinking grass and would expand the use of poisons; and

(2) The project would continue a bizarre Starvation Wall of introduced bushes which has no meaningful value except to keep the popular Charles River White Geese from their home and food of most of the last 36 years by walling off the Magazine Beach playing fields from the Charles River.  The bizarre wall is admitted to be a failure.  The portion of Magazine Beach nearest the Charles River is now a pariah to visitors because of the bizarre wall blocking view of the river.

When Cambridge and the state bureaucrats installed this bizarre wall, they said they were creating a lawn to the river.  One of their fake groups conducted a swim in to celebrate the lawn to the river.

Now the local fake group’s mantra is to tell people not to look at what they are doing, except that “somebody” put the words “dead and dying” into the City Council motion as justification for funds, and the City Council motion fights for but the does not mention, the continuation of the poisons and the starvation wall.

The first on line segment of our report, Part 1, The Summary, 6/10/17, is posted at
http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2017/06/charles-river-what-is-being-destroyed.html.

The Second on line segment, Part 2, “Dead and Dying” reality of Magazine Beach, Early History of the Outrages.
http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2017/06/charles-river-what-is-being-destroyed_11.html.

Magazine Beach is west of the BU Bridge on the Charles River.  You can also look at THE MOST RECENT PART OF the record of these terrible people.

III. Main New Material.

This section continues to use the numbering in the 51 page letter to the Cambridge City Manager and Cambridge City Council from which this material is derived.  It has been edited to change reference language to conform to difference in presentation from hard copy to Blog.

4. Southern Edge of Playing Fields.

A. Maps.

These three trees, all apparently planted in the 2000s outrage definitely look dead.  Their existence, contrary to the sales pitch, does not justify destroying the 54 trees supported by order 1.

C. Photos.

Below are individual pictures.  All were clearly planted in the 2000s outrage.

Below is a group picture.

One tree is in the foreground.  One is skinny and to the right, a sort of a bean pole in front of the right bush.  The third is visible over the bushes.

These three and the two dead near the sidewalk make five dead or dying trees.

That is not grounds to destroy 54.

5. The Starvation Wall.

A. Maps.

B. Analysis.

Section 1F, above, succinctly summarizes a major part of the problem.

The DCR admits that the Starvation Wall introduced by Cambridge and the DCR in the 2000s is a failure to the extent it has any purpose except heartless animal abuse, deliberately starving the Charles River White Geese by keeping them from their food and home of most of the last 36 years.

The key lie in the establishment of this 16 foot high wall of introduced vegetation was in the Charles River “Master Plan,” which promised a lawn to the river.  The promise of a lawn to the river was amended after the fact.  During the planning on the Charles River, the DCR constantly demanded nothing but water related activities on the Charles River.  So the DCR and Cambridge turned the Playing Fields by this wall into an area which might as well be ten miles from any body of water whatsoever.

The DCR admits that people do not use the area next to the Starvation Wall because it is so foreboding.  The DCR promises to temporarily trim the wall so that the Charles River can be seen.  The key to the lie is that the DCR DOES NOT MAINTAIN ITS PROPERTY.  If the DCR maintained its property, this wall would not be 16 feet higher OR MORE.  The DCR did not use “temporarily” in its promise.  I live in reality.

The falsely named Charles River “Conservancy” gave another excuse for the Starvation Wall.  They conducted a swim in to brag that it would improved swimming in the Charles River.  Since people are kept from access to the Charles River, the “swimming” argument was a big a lie as calling this entity a “Conservancy.”  To my knowledge, the entity has routinely rubber stamped whatever outrage the DCR is fighting for.

The responsible thing to do is to remove the Starvation Wall down TO THE ROOTS, AND TRASH THE ENTIRE THING.  The DCR claims it cannot do this.  Looking at the destruction of hundreds of trees between the BU and Longfellow Bridges with the removal of massive amounts of dirt, this latest claim is obviously just another flat out lie.  The results of massive dirt removal is shown in “Nature and Beauty . . ,” link below.

Please see our videos for detailed proof of this latest flat out lie:   “The Destruction of Memorial Drive . . . Final Cut” may be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTplCCEJP7o.  The City Council and City Manager have been provided one DVD record copy each and each member of the City Council has been provided his / her individual copy.  For prove of the flat out lie in claimed “improvements,” please see our video “Nature and Beauty Ripped out along the Charles River” at https://youtu.be/dWyCdcWMuAA.

C. Photos.

Here are file photos showing this outrage.

Here is a view from the Boston side in 2011.  The Starvation Wall has only gotten worse.

The Charles River White Geese, during the initially implementation of this outrage had the nerve to go through the opening as it then existed and FEED.  Going through the opening was taken care of with massive construction of bushes ONLY in such a location as to prevent the Charles River White Geese from getting to food.  The land side of the only opening in the Starvation Wall.

My notes on this photo read “2012?”.

The only opening in this introduced Starvation Wall may properly be understood in comparison to this adult woman standing in it.  This photo, also, was taken years ago.  The introduced Starvation Wall has grown and grown.

And here are some photos from May 2017.

Remember, this introduced 16 foot or higher wall of bushes
HIDES THE CHARLES RIVER

It was promised to be a LAWN TO THE RIVER.

Order 1 of April 24, 2017 continues the existence of this outrage WHILE FUNDING MASSIVE ADDITIONAL DESTRUCTION.

6. The middle of the playing fields.  Poison usage.  Drainage for poisons that should not be used.

A. Maps.

The first map combines cuts from 3 masters.

At the top, bottom half, is the western introduced drainage area to drain off poisons which should not be there in the first place.

Below the photo of this introduced drainage area is a playing field segment connected by a throat to the main playing field.

To the right of this playing field segment is the east drainage area to drain off poisons which should not be there in the first place.

The third photo fills in the playing field area.

These areas are clearer in the colored plan.

B. Photos.

(1) Poison on the banks of the Charles River fails.  So they want more poisons.

In the middle of the playing fields are excellent examples of the folly of poisons.

What is the solution for poison drinking grass which has failed?  According to the DCR and the Development Department, the solution is to put in more poison drinking grass, and expand the poison drinking grass to the top of the hill, expand it to behind the pool; expand it to the area where Cambridge and the DCR have already destroyed hundreds of trees east of the BU Bridge.  Expand the poison drinking grass in place of SUCCESSFUL, RESPONSIBLE grass which has survived the better part of a Century.

Why?  The DCR loves poisons, and contractors get paid to put in poisons.  Make work for contractors.

Responsible maintenance does not make money for contractors.  Installation of poisons do make money for contractors.

Responsible behavior is to get rid of all the poisons and to make Magazine Beach clean, as it was for the better part of a century before the Outrages of the 2000s by the DCR and Cambridge.

B. Fancy Drainage System to drain off poisons which should not be used in the first place.

And here, they paid contractors to put in a fancy drainage system to drain off poisons they should not be using on the banks of the Charles.

The contractors are happy.  What else matters?

Responsible behavior would be not to use poisons on the banks of the Charles River.

And Cambridge has a controlled fake protective group which has indulged in corrupt behavior to get things through AFTER LOSING WHEN THEY PRESENTED THEIR IDEAS TO THE PUBLIC.  This is a soft touch for make work for contractors.

By contrast, the trees planned to be destroyed next to the private Boat House in the western part of the Magazine Beach Reservation got pulled off the list.  The people in the private Boat House who would be hurt by that tree destruction are not controlled.
