Lt. Governor Candidate one step further on massive logging on Cambridge Common

Lt. Governor Candidate one step further on massive logging on Cambridge Common

I visited the Cambridge Common yesterday and got photographs.

All the returning city councilors including Leland Cheung voted for massive destruction here.  I have provided the current city council with photographs of the outrage.  They are “neutral” on this destruction and the entire city council is “neutral” on the destruction of hundreds of trees on the Charles River, while planning their own destruction on the banks of the Charles as part of the Grand Junction highway proposal.

The big difference I saw was the construction of what looks like quite a permanent woven fence on the end of the destruction area away furthest away from Harvard Square.

I have reported on this outrage as it progresses.  I started with the orange markings on the condemned trees.  That followed with slats protecting the trees safe from this outrageously destructive city government.

Individual members of the Cambridge City Council have been receiving almost all email version of these reports for quite awhile now.  They are encouraged to show me any errors I am making.

My interpretation is that, except for the first photo, every tree in these photographs which does not have slats on it is condemned.

The first photo is the undamaged view of the Cambridge Common from the Harvard Square entrance.  The immediately following photo is the same trees viewed from the inside of the common yesterday.

Look very carefully.  It would appear that this very irresponsible city council including the candidate for Lieutenant Governor is destroying more trees in this end of the Cambridge Common than they are refraining from destroying.

Please see YouTube for my video report on this outrage including photos provided to the Cambridge City Council, at http://youtu.be/FgQ9ojVuMxM.

The plans, also provided to the Cambridge City Council, for destruction of hundreds of trees on the Charles River, funded by $20 million from the State House are provided in a link quoted the information page to the YouTube posting at http://youtu.be/_5AvCUULcXo

See YouTube, as well, for my report on the position of the Cambridge City Council, including Leland Cheung, on heartless human abuse by the former City Manager.  Judge, jury, and appeals court panel found reprehensible his destruction of the life of Malvina Monteiro because she filed a civil rights / women’s rights complaint.  The members of the Cambridge City Council, including Leland Cheung, did not publicly, as far as I know, express the slightest concern for the heartless treatment of Malvina Monteiro, thus squarely placing themselves on the side of heartless human abuse, in addition to heartless animal abuse.  The posting is at http://youtu.be/_5AvCUULcXo.   The posting, in the information page, includes cites to the decisions of the trial judge and the appeals court panel, although the appeals court panel was so disgusted with the City of Cambridge that it refused to honor them by calling the panel's opinion an opinion.

Mass. Elections: Vote against heartless animal abuse, heartless human abuse and environmental destruction.

1. Introduction.
2. Michael Sullivan.
3. Leland Cheung.
4. Summary.

1. Introduction.

There is one extremely bad candidate running for Lieutenant Governor on the Massachusetts ballot, Leland Cheung.  On the Middlesex County ballot, he is joined by District Attorney candidate Michael Sullivan.

2. Michael Sullivan.

Sullivan started the ongoing environmental outrages in and around Cambridge by voting to fund the outrageous destruction on the Magazine Beach playing fields.  It was a blank check with a lot of lies, but he voted for it.

He very clearly knew about the intent to severely harm the Charles River White Geese.  They have been starved and driven from their home of most of the last 33 years.  Poisons have been dumped on the playing fields.  Playing fields have been destroyed to drain off the poisons which should not be there in the first place.

This comports with the goal of the Department of Conservation and Recreation to kill off or drive away all resident animals, a goal they lied about with constant claims of “No intent” to harm the Charles River White Geese.

Sullivan is running for district attorney.  Given his heartless record on the Charles River White Geese, is their any chance that irresponsible city officials will be prosecuted for heartless animal abuse?

3. Leland Cheung.

Cheung is working to make things worse and his destructiveness keys into further outrages by the Department of Conservation and Recreation which he does not want to know about.  He calls for irresponsible development on DCR property attacking the Charles River White Geese, but when it comes to $20 million for destruction of hundreds of trees by the DCR, he claims it is none of his business.

None of his business?  He voted for underpasses claimed to be part of the tree destruction.  He is fighting for a bike highway in the ghetto to which the Charles River White Geese have been confined.  He is fighting for a fence creating yet another wall in the wildlife area.  His “neutrality” includes “neutrality” on the destruction of a magnificent tree looming over his highway proposal.

He has funded the destruction of excellent trees forming the entrance of the Cambridge Common from Harvard Square.  He has happily joined in the hypocrisy at Alewife of yelling at private developers obeying municipally created zoning while City of Cambridge’s development is destroying the part of Alewife Cambridge owns.

Cambridge, of course, conducts its own foreign policy, but Cheung runs away from irresponsible behavior in Cambridge a city in which it is very much is with his duty to care.

That, of course, includes his “neutrality” on a Cambridge City Manager who received a penal damages award of more than three times actual damages by the jury, “reprehensible” by the judge and “ample evidence . . . of outrageous misbehavior” by the appeals court panel.  Monteiro v. Cambridge.

The poor dear, he could see nothing wrong with the Cambridge City Manager destroying a department head’s life in retaliation for her filing a civil rights / women’s rights complaint.

Judge, jury, and appeals court panel gave him the power to fire the Cambridge City Manager, possibly without pension, for this outrage, and he saw nothing wrong.

4. Summary.

Please do not miss our posts on YouTube:

The vileness of the Cambridge government must be isolated as much as possible in Cambridge.  Their filth should not be extended to further areas

Addendum: In addition to the response to neutral comment, please note the following City of Cambridge photo bragging of the destruction of the Cambridge City Council of 3.4 acres of the Alewife Reservation behind 165 CambridgePark Drive at Alewife in Cambridge.

The trees in the background occupied the ENTIRE area of this photograph before the Cambridge City Council’s mass logging and pogrom of the animal residents.

0. Introduction.

Two good responses to the latest Cheung report.  Yahoo “improvements” are such that I cannot be positive that these are all that were sent.  The Yahoo “improvements” create an opaque situation with regard to responses.  I have to open files which look like there is no need to open in order to find responses, and, even then, I am not positive that I have seen all the responses.

I would love to get any comments I missed.  I would love to get my actual response to comment 2.  And I would love to get additional comments.

The most effective way to communicate to me would be free standing emails to boblat@yahoo.com, not as replies.

1. Good guy comment.

a. Comment.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to have maps of Cambridge trees through the decades showing the tree loss?

On a positive note; there is now a directory of street trees;

if it's updated through the years we may see what is happening...

It's amazing to see the quickly erected apartments at Fresh Pond and Porter Square, to appreciate what the increased density means in terms of noise and litter and absence of trees...

B. Response:

I have not seen the directory.

One thing which is clear is that it would bless the current outrageous destruction on all counts.

Destroying Alewife would be legal.  Destroying the Charles River would be legal.  Destroying the Cambridge Common would be legal.

And all would be hidden from sight by a document which gives the impression of being responsible but which rewards destructiveness of a reprehensible government by its apparent sanctity and very real hiding of reality.

[ed: One of the key techniques of lying used by the Cambridge government is secret definitions of key terms.  All of the ongoing destruction is outside the secret definition of “street trees.”]

2. Neutral comment.

a. Comment.

Bob
Can you tell us if his opponent for Lt Governor, [omitted by editor] is any better?

b. Response:

[Ed: I thought I saved my response, but I do not see it.  Let us give it another try.]

(1) Introduction.

The absolute horror of the situation in Cambridge, MA, is not just the outrageous misbehavior or the direct results of the outrageous misbehavior.  It is, much worse, the loud insistence that the corrupt world in Cambridge, MA is some sort of ideal for the rest of the world to emulate.

The fact of the Cheung candidacy exactly fits the concept that the Cambridge government is something to take pride in.

(2) Malvina Monteiro.

Healy destroyed the life of Malvina Monteiro in retaliation for her filing a civil rights complaint.

Exactly ZERO then sitting members of the Cambridge City Council publicly (to my knowledge) expressed even the slightest distress about the matters mentioned in repeated and very loud court findings.  Those findings consistently expressed flat out disgust and contempt for Robert Healy.

Two well deserving then sitting city councilors probably have been fired by the electorate over this outrage.  Seven were not, and four replacements are in place.

This is not a matter to take lightly.  This is a matter of corrupt politics at its worst.

A woman’s life was destroyed because she filed a civil rights / women’s rights complaint and, out of nine city councilors, there were exactly ZERO expressions (to my knowledge) of distress at this outrage in any form.  This is in the face of very strong comments from the courts.

The Courts:  “Reprehensible.”  “Ample evidence . . . of outrageous misbehavior.”

Nine City Councilors: Absolutely ZERO.

(3) Environment.

Massive environmental destruction by people lying that they are environmental saints?  The destruction is horrible.  The lies make it that much worse.

(4) Heartless animal abuse.

Heartless animal abuse, heartless animal abuse, heartless animal abuse.

3. YouTube postings.

MA Lt. Gov. candidate Cheung ready to go logging on the Cambridge Common

MA Lt. Gov. candidate Cheung ready to go logging on the Cambridge Common.

I have not been past the Cambridge Common in several days and I am very much dreading what I will see.

When I went past it last, those excellent trees were in the middle of a construction zone.

Leland Cheung has very clear aspects on the Charles River which make him look like one of the most environmentally destructive members of the extremely bad Cambridge City Council.  The trouble is that, once you get as bad as the four with more experience than he, it is very difficult to single him out.  I have no reason to think that any of the four recent additions are better than he is.  One or more is rather clearly as bad or worse.

I had a discussion on the impending outrage on the Cambridge Common before a meeting, with a former member who has environmental symbols on her house signs.  Translating into reality, he explanation was that the staff members who had been fighting for this destruction for years told her it was ok.

Cheung walked by and refused to comment.

The entrance nearest Harvard Square is being decimated, all excellent trees.  The explanation on the Environment Notification Form was that the trees are being destroyed because they block view of a monument.

I recall Cambridge staff fighting to denude a nearby side street of all trees because the trees blocked sunlight.

Here is a photo of the excellent entrance being destroyed by Cheung and his associates.

I include the four new ones, at minimum, because I formally raised objections to this destruction, and heard a silence of co-conspirators.

The complete letter to a bad City Council, including many links to analyses of environmental destruction may be viewed at http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2014/06/cambridge-ma-usa-city-clerk-good-posting.html.

My YouTube presentation of that report is at http://youtu.be/FgQ9ojVuMxM.  That pairs with my report on Cheung’s attitude toward court decisions with regard to Cambridge City Manager Robert Healy’s heartless human abuse, at http://youtu.be/_5AvCUULcXo.  The latter includes Alewife and the Charles River.

More environmental destruction from Councilor / Lt. Gov. Candidate Cheung

More environmental destruction from Councilor / Lt. Gov. Candidate Cheung

Here are two photographs of one excellent tree Cambridge City Councilor / Lt. Gov. Candidate Leland Cheung seems to contend he is “neutral” on the destruction of.

I previously gave the Cambridge City Council the plans for the hundreds of trees slated to be destroyed under chapter 286 of the Massachusetts Acts of 2014, and reported the transmission on this blog.

The City Council did not deign to take action.  Apparently they claim they are Neutral, Department of Conservation and Recreation territory.

Cheung, however, has taken a public position on the area from which I took the photographs, the Destroyed Nesting Area of the Charles River White Geese, where they are confined without food.  He wants to put a bicycle highway in it and to put a fence between the Destroyed Nesting Area and the free animal area on the other side of the Grand Junction railroad.  The highway would go very close to where I was standing when I took the photo.

This is also DCR territory.

So, when Cheung can increase heartless animal abuse aimed at the Charles River White Geese in DCR territory, he is in support.

When it comes to standing up against the destruction of hundreds of excellent trees including this one in DCR territory, he is neutral, not his turf..

Interestingly, the Cambridge City Council conducts its own foreign relations program, but it claims to be, as convenient, neutral on DCR destruction in the City of Cambridge clearly run past the City Manager’s people.

This tree is 100 feet or so from Cheung’s destructive highway.  This excellent tree is one of hundreds of excellent trees in area controlled by the irresponsible Department of Conservation and Recreation..

When it comes to destroying trees with DCR money, he claims neutrality, not his territory.  When it comes to heartless animal abuse in DCR territory, he publicly supports it.

The poor dear.  He sounds like a member of the Cambridge City Council.

The Charles River is DCR territory, and DCR territory centers on the Charles River.  Cheung is aggressively destructive in the DCR area closer to the Charles River.  He is “neutral”, not his territory, with regard to the excellent tree.  But the excellent tree he is happy to see destroyed is further from DCR core territory than the area where he wants to ramp up heartless animal abuse.

Further video / photos on various outrages, civil rights and environmental, of which Cheung is a part of are in my YouTube report, posted at http://youtu.be/_5AvCUULcXo.

Cheung is running for Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  He seems to claim he is some sort of progressive / liberal in the middle of his various outrages as a member of the Cambridge City Council.  I presume he is making the same claim as a candidate for Lt. Governor.

Report on YouTube on Mass. Lt. Governor Candidate Leland Cheung

Report on YouTube on Mass. Lt. Governor Candidate Leland Cheung

I have previously reported on the candidacy of Cambridge City Councilor Leland Chung for Lt. Governor of Massachusetts in these pages.

Prior reports may be viewed at:

http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2014/07/cambridge-ma-city-council-considers.html (#1).

He has also been mentioned too many times in other reports.

In evaluating Mr. Cheung, it is essential to remember that he is, for all practical purposes, indistinguishable from the other longtime members of the Cambridge City Council, except that the longer serving members have had an opportunity to make a worse record.

The YouTube posting is at http://youtu.be/_5AvCUULcXo.  The core of it is the conclusion to my report on the Monteiro case.  The full analysis is more detailed, and I may post the balance yet.

The Cambridge Machine Proves: FRAUD WORKS

The Cambridge Machine Proves: FRAUD WORKS.

The purpose of the company union fraud is to fool well meaning people to work against their own goals.  At minimum, a company union prevents responsible action standing up to irresponsible goals supported by the company union.  A company union does so by filling in a void and by preventing responsible people from acting by preempting and destroying the field.

The fraud is based on the concept that a few rotten people who know what they are doing can control a large number of well meaning people who have good intentions.

The Cambridge Machine has obtained a state legislative / gubernatorial vote for $20 million for destruction of hundreds of magnificent trees on Memorial Drive next to the Charles River in Cambridge, MA, along with yet another increase in heartless animal abuse, of the Charles River White Geese and other free animals.

The heartless animal abuse comports with the wishes of their friends from the Department of Conservation and Recreation to kill off or drive away all resident animals on this part of the Charles River.  It comports with the animal pogrom which was automatic as part of their destruction at Alewife.

The $20 million they have obtained for massive destruction was achieved through key lies of the falsely named Charles River “Conservancy” combined with the controllers of a fake neighborhood association joining the lie of concern for the Charles River.  Their non stop mantra translates into “It is anti Charles River to Defend the Charles River.”  The words are never used.  Reality of communication is reality of communication.  You combine this with a massive organization’s knee jerk support for rotten goals.

Thus you prevent action where needed and obtain destruction where desired combined without outrageous abuse of agendas.  And when company union fraud will not work, indulge in outright corruption when necessary and do it as fast and as clean as possible.

Thus the Cambridge Machine is adding destruction of hundreds of trees and animal habitat on the Charles River

to their destruction, SO FAR, of 3.4 acres of the Alewife Reservation and

to the multiple outrages and heartless animal abuse in the Magazine Beach area which were obtained through flat out lies, kept through company union obstruction and fought to expand through corrupt tactics.

It is a rotten situation, a well established rotten situation.

And in the middle of this is a Cambridge City Councillor serving in a reprehensible city government which government lies about which side the government is on.  And this product of this world is running for Lieutenant Governor.  No worse than the rest of a bad city council, no better than the rest of a bad city council.  Biggest difference from the others is in time of service, opportunity to do bad.

And, on environmental destruction, and heartless animal abuse and mass animal killing, convenient “neutrality” belied by reality.

The Monteiro Judge, jury and appeals court panel are still right:

1. REPREHENSIBLE,

2. AMPLE EVIDENCE OF . . . OUTRAGEOUS MISBEHAVIOR.

They were talking about a city manager destroying the life of a woman in retaliation for her exercising her rights under civil rights / women’s rights law.  The City Council was “neutral” on that outrage as well.  A City Manager condemned by judge, jury and appeals court panel was allowed to serve two more years and “honorably" retire.

The same stench applies to the repeated outrageous environmental destruction and heartless animal abuse and mass animal killings.

This is the filth which controls the City of Cambridge, MA, USA.

Governor Patrick blesses massive destruction on the Charles River. Cambridge Machine is destroying more of Cambridge.

Governor Patrick blesses massive destruction on the Charles River.  Cambridge Machine is destroying more of Cambridge.

The following post is on the governor’s website:

Legislation Acted Upon by the Governor

. . .

3.  H. 4375, “An Act Providing for the Preservation and Improvement of Land, Parks and Clean Energy in the Commonwealth”

      Sponsor:  None

Action: Signed – now Chapter 286 of the Acts of 2014

**********

The Cambridge Machine with its corrupt company union tactics is that much closer to massive destruction on Memorial Drive.

This massive destruction is exactly what they are fighting for when they lie to people that they are defending the Charles River and lie to folks that nothing should be looked at other than one unused building they want converted to retail.

It follows on the destruction of 3.4 acres of Alewife based on the same corrupt, lying tactics.

And, of course, a city council which conducts world affairs and lies that, after massive intervention, it is neutral on the that part of the Charles River in Cambridge, MA it does not want to know about.

Lies work.

There is a lot more destruction coming from these hypocrites.

A really, really rotten city government and a really, really rotten Cambridge Machine.

Last Full Day on Charles River, MA, Environmental Destruction Bill

Last Day on Charles River, MA, Environmental Destruction Bill

House Bill H4375 is still on the Massachusetts Governors desk awaiting action by August 14, 2015.  This is the last full day before the deadline.Charles River White Geese Blog

The tree destruction plans for Memorial Drive are posted at http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2014/04/tree-destruction-plans-charles-river.html.  Please scroll down.  Habitat destruction would coincide.

For your information, I am posting a photo of the entrance to the hovel to which the Charles River White Geese are being starved and confined.  The excellent tree in the middle of the photograph appears on the first page of the destruction plans in a grey circle indicating destruction.  It is about normal size for the massive destruction these people are fighting for.  It is the tree which towers over everything else.

The key language is as follows.  This is the third different funding amount I am aware of.  It started at $24 million, went up to $32 million and has decreased to $20 million.  The governor can veto parts of the bill.

I think a reasonably accurate description is House Bill H4375, section 2C, 2890-7035, printed lines 1295 to 1298.

***************

SECTION 2C.
1247
EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS 1248
Department of Conservation and Recreation. 1249

provided further, that $20,000,000 shall be expended to complete
1296 the planning, design and construction of Phase II of the Historic Parkways Initiative along the
1297 section of the Memorial drive between the Longfellow bridge and the Boston University bridge
1298 in the city of Cambridge; . . .

Update on the Memorial Drive Tree destruction bill

Update on the Memorial Drive Tree destruction bill.

I have done a detailed run through the pending items on the Governor’s Desk.  It turns out that the Memorial Drive Tree destruction has become H4375.  Its description does not have any connection to bills we previously were aware of, but hunting through it, I find key language.

The magic date is now August 14, 2014, the later date probably coming from delay in transmittal.

I am very sorry about our confusion.  Details are in the following email to the governor:

************

Dear Governor Patrick:

It is quite likely that you have been getting objections to the environment bond bill, the successor to  H4009, $32 million in H4009, section 2C, 2890-7020.

I am sorry about our sloppiness.

We do not have inside information and have had to wander about as well as we can.

On reviewing your list of Bills on Your desk, I encounter H4375 which includes the following:

SECTION 2C. 1247
EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS 1248
Department of Conservation and Recreation. 1249
2890-7035

provided further, that $20,000,000 shall be expended to complete
1296 the planning, design and construction of Phase II of the Historic Parkways Initiative along the
1297 section of the Memorial drive between the Longfellow bridge and the Boston University bridge
1298 in the city of Cambridge;

I am sorry about any inconvenience.

This would appear to be the language authorizing the destruction as posted in the DCR’s plans posted at http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2014/04/tree-destruction-plans-charles-river.html.

The DCR seems to vary from keeping this thing as secret as possible to giving whatever explanation or non explanation would seem to fly.

Please veto it.

Thank you.

d. More Details.

1. Deadline is Today.

Today, August 11, 2014, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick decides to approve or reject the destruction of hundreds of trees on Memorial Drive in Cambridge.

2. Introduction.

This section is intended to provide a short version of the problem.  It repeats in short form many posts.  I am attempting to provide a succinct condensation of many posts in the past.

A good index is the Charles River White Geese page on facebook.  Those postings are intended to be condensations of the blog posts with link.  Thus, you can scroll down and see what looks interesting.

The tree destruction plans are posted at http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2014/04/tree-destruction-plans-charles-river.html.

The one caveat on the tree destruction plans is that the trees to be destroyed are shaded.  Additionally, if you click on a particular plan, you will get a blow up which looks very satisfying to me.

a. The circumstances.

A week ago last Friday, Governor Patrick of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts received the Environment Bond Bill from the legislature.  This bill would destroy hundreds of excellent trees on the banks of the Charles River in Cambridge, MA, USA along with the distressingly usual harm to resident animals

The first two above photos are to a key grove which consists of trees smaller than perhaps half the threatened trees.  The bigger trees are too large for viable photographs.  These are in and out of season photos to give you a feel for the corruption of the plans.  The Charles River is on the left in the first photo, looking west, and on the right in the second photo, looking east.

I have been able to find one tree which is targeted and which can be photographed.  Naturally, it was right in front of me.  The tree which towers above all the others in the middle of the fourth photo is one of the hundreds of trees targeted for destruction.  It is perhaps normal size for the targeted trees, significantly larger than the ones in that excellent grove, easily two thirds of which will be destroyed unless Governor Patrick vetoes.

This grove is perhaps half a mile east of the ghetto which has been forced on the Charles River White Geese.  It is located at that point where Memorial Drive is a divided highway to the east and an undivided highway to the west.  The destruction numbers are 75 to 80%.

The third photo is of a family of Charles River White Geese, the 33 year resident gaggle which is the direct subject of accelerating and heartless abuse from entities which lie of their own environmental sainthood.

b. Governor’s Contact Information.

The governor has a very short period of time to decide whether or not to veto and he has a line item veto.

Please contact him.

He may be contacted on the net by his email form at http://www.mass.gov/governor/constituentservices/contact.  His office may be contacted by telephone at 888-870-7770.  This is a free call from Massachusetts.

This is the Environment Bond Bill.  The terrible stuff is given the euphemism “Historical Parkways”.  The latest bill number I have is the House’s predecessor, H4009.  The House of Representatives called for  destruction money of $32 million in H4009, section 2C, 2890-7020.

c. Specific Information.

The current destruction is in an area where the state bureaucrats have a goal of killing off or driving away as many animal residents as they can get away with.  This will be the latest in a series of heartless abuse of these beautiful animals.  The public position has been “no intent to harm.”

Prior attacks on the Charles River White Geese are readily correctable.  The destruction was cofunded by the state and city, and the project was managed by the person who is currently serving as City Manager.  Lies of omission and commission have been normal, along with other corrupt tactics.

When the bureaucrats tried to get Obama moneys to destroy these same Memorial Drive trees in 2009, they lied to the Boston Globe that these hundreds of trees were diseased.

I have published the destruction plans at:  http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2014/04/tree-destruction-plans-charles-river.html.

Please scroll down to get to the plans.  The files are horribly large and I hesitate to keep loading the same massive amount of data.  The bill number mentioned is the prior number assigned to this destruction.

The most recent identification I have is the relevant portion of the bill at the House of Representatives Level is House Bill  H4009,  section 2C, 2890-7020, in the amount of $32 million.

Here is a photo of the railroad bridge under the BU Bridge which is key.  The local transit authority did a silly study on this bridge to determine if it could hold an off ramp to Cambridge of I90 (the Massachusetts Turnpike).  If you look straight ahead, you can see a green overhead highway sign.  The study proved an off ramp was possible.

d. More Details.

I have done a lot of reports on the ongoing outrages.

The simplest way to find things is to go to facebook - Charles River White Geese and go down the list.

The facebook page consists of shorter versions of these blog reports with links to the blog reports I condense.

1. Deadline is Monday.
2. Are the posted plans big enough?
3. Introduction.
a. The circumstances.
b. Governor’s Contact Information.
c. Specific Information.
d. More Details.

1. Deadline is Monday.

Governor Patrick appears to have until Monday, August 11 to approve or reject the destruction of hundreds of trees on Memorial Drive in Cambridge.

2. Are the posted plans big enough?

I have long had problems with using too large files.

In the current leafleting, the leaflets include a link to the plan posted here at http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2014/04/tree-destruction-plans-charles-river.html.  Scroll down when you get there to see the plans..

The one real defect I see is that the bill number in the report is the wrong one.  I have corrected that by an update at the beginning..

There are a lot of individual plans.  Each in the original runs about a meg.  The posted copies were reduced to half a meg.

If anybody has problems with the posted plans, please give me a ring at boblat@yahoo.com, and I will upgrade the postings.

Thanks.

The main reason for this post is to provide useful information in addition to the question I have posted above, which constitutes new material.  Basically, I had intended to post larger versions, but my impression is that these posts are fine.

The one caveat on the tree destruction plans is that the trees to be destroyed are shaded.  Additionally, if you click on a particular plan, you will get a blow up which looks very satisfying to me.

Last Friday, Governor Patrick of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts received the Environment Bond Bill from the legislature.  This bill would destroy hundreds of excellent trees on the banks of the Charles River in Cambridge, MA, USA along with the distressingly usual harm to resident animals

The above photos are to a key grove which consists of trees small than perhaps half the threatened trees.  The bigger trees are too large for viable photographs.  These are in and out of season photos to give you a feel for the corruption of the plans.  The Charles River is on the left in the first photo, looking west, and on the right in the second photo, looking east.

The House of Representatives called for  destruction money of $32 million in H4009, §2C, 2890-7020.

The most recent identification I have is the relevant portion of the bill at the House of Representatives Level is House Bill  H4009, §2C, 2890-7020, in the amount of $32 million.

1. Introduction.

This section is intended to provide a short version of the problem.  It repeats a lot of yesterday’s post.  Both attempt to be a succinct condensation of many posts in the past.

The main reason for this post is to pass on the comments in section 2 which constitute new material.

a. The circumstances.

2. More details on the destruction.

In yesterday’s report, I provided some details at to the off ramp from I90 to Cambridge, MA, USA, which seems to be the core of the problem.  It is posted at http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2014/08/bill-on-mass-governors-desk-for-massive.html

I have a better aerial photograph of the area of destruction than I have previously released, primarily because I was emphasizing the details of the reason why and the harm to the animals.  But it sinks in that the scope of the destruction can best be viewed from a photo who shows more of the area, but even this photo does not fully show the extent of the outrage.

Here is a photo which shows the river bank from the BU to the Harvard / Mass. Ave. Bridge, the next bridge to the east of the BU Bridge.  The double name comes from the fact that New Englanders commonly use names other than the official name.  The reason is because the real name is highly misleading.  The correct name for the bridge is the Harvard Bridge, but Harvard University and Harvard Square at something like two miles away if you take the short route, probably more like three or four miles away if you follow the river.

It is called the Mass. Ave. Bridge because it connects Massachusetts Avenue in Boston (the lower part of the picture) to Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge (the upper part of the picture).

Even this picture grossly understates the area of destruction.  The area of destruction extends this same distance again beyond the Mass. Ave. Bridge.

The dominant part of the picture is the residential neighborhood of Cambridge called Cambridgeport.

Between Cambridgeport and the Charles River on the right is a large undeveloped area.  This is the playing fields of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The ghetto to which the Charles River White Geese are confined and which is subjected to non stop increases in abuse is in the middle of the picture to the right of the BU Bridge on the Cambridge side.  The Grand Junction railroad bridge runs under the BU Bridge   It splits two wild areas.

On the left is the ghetto to which the Charles River White Geese are confined and which has been subject to a lot of abuse.  To the right is a hillside which is occupied by a lot of free animals.  The hillside is still thickly wooded.  It is partially used for nesting by the Charles River White Geese because so much of the ghetto to which they have been confined has been destroyed by the state bureaucracy and its agents.

The Grand Junction railroad extends in an almost straight line at about a 60 degree angle from its bridge.

Lining the river in both directions is Memorial Drive.

The BU Bridge becomes Brookline Street in Cambridge.

Just on the other side of Memorial Drive between the BU Bridge and the Grand Junction railroad is a building which stretches between the two.  Above it is a parking lot.  That parking lot has had a roadway built in it since this satellite photo was published.  (Or it may be shown.  I have a hard time figuring that out.)  The roadway is called the Waverly Connector.

It connects Brookline Street to Waverly Street which almost parallels the tracks.

The Waverly Connector was built with allowances for the Mass. Pike off ramp.  The plans called for extensive tree plantings.  But there were gaps in that extensive tree network.  The gaps exactly fit a highway pattern allowing for exits from Mass. Pike off ramp to the Waverly Connector and then to Memorial Drive.

Other diagrams have shown an exit from the Mass. Pike off ramp through the excellent woods which is to the right of the Grand Junction railroad.

The plans showed a highway built along the railroad tracks beyond Mass. Ave. (the extension of the Mass. Ave. Bridge) and extending as far as Kendall Square or further.

The tree destruction plans are presented at http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2014/04/tree-destruction-plans-charles-river.html.

Scroll down until you come to them.  There are a lot of them.

All of Memorial Drive to the right of the BU Bridge would receive massive destruction of its trees.  And the destruction extends much further, beyond Kendall Square, to the Longfellow Bridge.  The first plan is of the ghetto to which the Charles River White Geese have been dumped.  The last plan is at the Longfellow Bridge Area.

The land side of the destruction area north of Memorial Drive is the entire, large campus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  A little to the right of the words “Memorial Drive” is an outcropping of land.  That is the location of the excellent grove photoed above.  The area of destruction beyond the Mass. Ave. Bridge is as wide as the area of destruction shown on this photo.

MIT’s map of its campus may be viewed at http://whereis.mit.edu/.  It shows, with less real accuracy, the eastern area of destruction.  But, if you are following the detailed plans on the destruction link, you will realize that the destruction goes even further east.  The Grand Junction railroad is barely visible above the playing fields.  It turns after crossing Main Street, which, in turn, goes through Kendall Square to the right.  The Mass. Ave. Bridge is at the lower middle.

In addition to straightening out Memorial Drive to receive Mass. Pike traffic, the destruction plans turn the entire area into an area not readily accessible by non MIT people.  This mile or two of destroyed area would be made, for all practical purposes into the MIT campus.

There is about two miles destruction.

a. Shelley Patterson..

(1) Talk with Governor’s Office, today.

Shelley reports.

*************

I just telephoned the Governor's office and left a detailed message. The fellow answering was thorough and helpful, and seemed to truly be taking note of the call. Thank you for the heads-up, and for the contact info....and for your impressive dedication and hard work. I hope that the Governor will make a wise decision.

Cheers,
SP

(2) Editor.

Thank you very much, Shelley.

Your impression is much better than what we have gotten in the past from calls.

That is encouraging.

I have also noted a significant increase in hits on the blog.

(3) Shelley.

Glad you're getting attention, Bob. Giving folks specific bill numbers, phone numbers and email addresses really helps -- then it's much easier for them to take action. Providing outlines of what needs to be said helps, too. Thanks again.

Shelley

b. Excellent question -. How the  Off ramp from I90 / Mass. Pike to Cambridge works.

While leafleting at the Destroyed Nesting Area, a gentleman questioned me closely on the possible off ramp from I90 to Memorial Drive.  This seems to be the real reason for destroying all these trees.

His point was excellent.  He could not see how they could get a ramp in under the BU Bridge with the railroad bridge there.  I pointed out that the MBTA proposal was to widen the railroad bridge to hold both.

I have so many photos, almost all of which have been posted already, but even cross references would be confusing.  So here are three items which I hope will be helpful.

Here is the photo of the Boston end of the Railroad bridge under the BU Bridge.  Straight ahead you can see a green sign which is above I90 (the Massachusetts Turnpike).  There is a lot of open space on the Cambridge Side of the Massachusetts Turnpike, and I have published a lot of photos of it.  There is very limited space on the Boston side, but enough to build an off ramp and run it over the Mass. Pike.

The plan was to widen the railroad bridge to its east (the left side on the photo) to handle both the railroad and the exit ramp.

Here is a publicly located  Boston University map of the central part of its campus.  The upper left corner shows the area in question.

Crossing the map is Commonwealth Avenue.  Almost perpendicular to it and moving to the top middle is the BU Bridge.  Running in a diagonal from the top left to the lower right is the Massachusetts Turnpike.  The thin line close to the top left running from the Massachusetts Turnpike to and under the BU Bridge is the Railroad Bridge.

This is the first time I have published this particular map.

Here is a map I have published many times.  It is a satellite photo from, I believe, 2006.  The BU Bridge is in the very middle.  The Railroad Bridge is under it.

The tree destruction plans are posted at http://charlesriverwhitegeeseblog.blogspot.com/2014/04/tree-destruction-plans-charles-river.html, (scroll down, please) .

They start immediately at the BU Bridge below Memorial Drive.  This is the heartlessly destroyed home of the Charles River White Geese.  The plans continue to the right.  At the very right, top of this map, you will see a bump into the Charles River.  This is the location of the excellent grove for which I have provided two photos at the top.

The tree destruction continues and continues and continues to the right.  The area of tree destruction off this photo is much wider than the area shown on this photo.

3. Summation.

I have gone on and on and on.

This proposal is an outrage.

4. Thank you.

Thank you for whatever you can do.
